I never fish for catfish. Neither was I fishing for them today... It was fairly cold. So I was using deep-diving lures and spinners, and often hooked leaves, grass and similar stuff... until I pulled out an empty old half-ripped bag from a sliced bread, and this fell out of it:

He was between 4 and 5 inches long, and SO CUTE (I wish my daugther was with me to see him)!!

I think catfish are one of the cutest fish species out there. Can't think of how someone could kill one...

I think catfish are one of the cutest fish species out there. Can't think of how someone could kill one...You get kind of detached when you have a family to feed. I caught tons of them over 30 years, and they are great food. Remember that St. Peter as in St. Petersburg was a fisherman and he has the keys. :)

awwhhh:) little fella is cute:) I like em too:D I like the squeaky little noises they make when you catch em.

pssst...I'm probably the wimpiest of all fishermen uhh fisherpeople lol I can't kill any of em. I always let em go and only fish cos I've been told it doesn't hurt em when they're caught (don't tell me that's not the case or I won't do it anymore) they always seem ok when they're released so I've convinced myself that's the case or I couldn't hurt the little guys.

Got a couple of em in our aquarium and they're cute, too. They always stay with each other, like they're buddies. Sometimes they'll lay there side by side in one direction and it looks like they're watchin tv. lol :)

We have Ottos in our tank...a little catfish like. They are very cute and fun to watch in groups. They just suck away at that algae... lol!

I used to fish for food, and I dunno, I just can't do it anymore. If I had to, that would be one thing, but I don't so, I toss 'em back.

Maybe it's just that the small ones are way too cute.Most people that I know that have farmed or fished for a living share your appreciation for the beauty of creatures. I miss being outdoors all day, but not as the song says "running against the wind".
