Hi Everyone

A few pics from Baeng's Taekwondo Tournament this past weekend where she won the 11-12 42-46kg group, and she cheated as she's only 10 :D

First day was for kids aged 5 to 12, around 800 fighters were there from about 20 different gyms.

Final score from the first fight, very close, and the girl she beat, beat Baeng 8-1 last month.

How in the world is Baeng winning at Taekwondo? Just the other day She was in diapers ... man oh man has she gown quickly! WOWSERS!

Martial arts is such a great way for a young lady to build self esteem (especially when they can beat up the boys!)

She used to be so skinny it was scarey, nothing but a mop of hair and match sticks, but she's grown so fast that she's now too big (no fat there either) to fight in her own age group!!!

how do they score? 2pts to the head and 1 to the body?

Yup 2 and 1. They have four judges , three must score a blow for it to count. So it's not just about hitting , but hitting hard enough and clear enough that judges see and hear that it's a firm strike.

Yup she's already told one boy in her class to back off before she knocks his teeth out. He probably thought she was kidding till she took her medals to school to day :D

WTF is the competitive standard that is used here. There are no other competitive sub styles of Taekwondo that I am aware of.

I train under WTF style/rules, that is why I was curious.

I've not seen any sign of ITF here, it might be more pravalent with adults but all the kids seem to do WTF.

Another win, pic to follow, final was a walk over so no smile on the podium. Shame as I was stand in coach for this one as we had several of the gym in action at the same time so I was "Stand in" , ah well I guess my first coaching win will have to wait :)

Sounds like a tournie next weekend, muist be the Tkd Season :D
