I was digging through some old boxes and ran onto a photo taken in 2005 when Shirley and I joined our church and went through the "new members welcome" trauma.

Thought I'd post it here because it's the most recent thing we have if any of you want to see what in the world we look like, or at least what we look like after I did my lame-o job of scanning the photo with my limited scanner and even more limited scanning skills. :uhoh:

Hey, Gary, cool picture. Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to put a face with a name, or handle, as the case may be. :)

Thanks for sharing Gary, Hi Shirley! welcome:

Not to lame of a job scanning there, I remember when I got my scanner .. everything I scanned was in 20megapixel resolution and poster size, I tried and tried with the machine from hell, but could never do a quick scan or less than 10 megs ... long story short, that scanner was dumped in less than a year.

So no not lame-o, pretty darn good-o, at least for me-o! E, I, E, I, O

Confession to Haiko: I did the scanning with plain old default settings with this cheapy HP All-in-One Printer (no Fax machine model). Except for changing the resolution. The default resolution is something like 200 or 250 dpi (pixels? I don't remember). I had read somewhere that most web images are at 72 dpi (or is it in pixels??), so I "beefed it up" from that but cut it down from the default -- I did it at 100. Seems not too bad.

AND -- What surprised me the most about this little cheapy HP printer/scanner/copier is that their standard software package has a not so bad scanning software.

Now if I could just get the darned thing to PRINT as well as it scans ...

It's not the scanner that makes the picture work, it's your better half that does ;) Hello Writerguys!!

Aw, now I'm gettin' all teary-eyed.

Seriously, I've loved that wonderful woman for the last 43 years of my life, since I saw her smiling across the room at me one evening when I was a freshman in college and she was a junior. Can't say enough about her. If I've managed to mumble and stumble through life in any way successfully, I credit it all to her.

Sorry about carrying on like that. I just get that way regarding Shirley.

Gary, you're one of the nicest people I've met here and your posts reinforce that opinion. You and Shirley are a handsome couple. Don't know if we'll ever meet face to face, but if we do I'm certain I'll recognize you immediately.

Thanks Gary for the great picture. I am glad to now be able to match a face with Shirley. And I also must reiterate the earlier comment that you are certainly one of the kindest people around, I'm sure that Shirley must be just as sweet and kind as you.

Thanks again.

Aw, you guys! I slid the laptop over to Shirley earlier this evening and let her read all your kind comments. She, too, was blessed by it all. She said to tell you all thanks.

I'm trying to persuade her to register here at ABW and hang around sometimes. She's a tremendous partner with me in this whole affiliate marketing business. I've gotten obsessed with learning the nuts and bolts -- she listens with great interest to all I share with her, the posts I read to her, the stuff I learn here and elsewhere, then gives me invaluable advice at every step.

Ah, there I go again. Sorry.

But, anyway, I hope I can eventually persuade her to hang around here herself once in awhile. Shy though.
