We've had a great time :fishing: in Finland this year. Caught a lot of walleye, perch, and some pike too. My wife enjoyed mushroom picking (she loves it). My daughter... Well, she didn't always have great time (see below), but she did enjoy the trip as well.
Needless to say, I am envious. :)We'll have to do some Chesapeake Bay trolling one day, B.! Your boat, my rods and bait. What do you say?

G.That would be great - except for one small problem. I sold the boat. We spent so much time at the beach I seldom used it. NOW I'm looking for a small airplane - but it is very difficult to fish from the air... :fishing:

Okay... We'll have to change the name of the fishing trip to Potomac Trolling then, and use a smaller boat and my neck of the woods (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=aquia%20landing,%20va). ;)

Geno, you are SO lucky to have had such a lovely summer! How old is your daughter? She's lucky to get such an incredible experience, too. I'm just waiting for the day that I can (afford to) take my kids on some great trips like you've just done. Enjoy the memories!!

mr_jones, Donuts, thank you for your compliments, gentlemen.
Funetics, Anastasia is a little over 4 years and 9 months old. At her little age, she (Russia-born) has already traveled to England, Italy, France, Monaco, Ukraine, Moldova, Sweden, and the U.S. Plus this has been her 4th visit to Finland. :-)

Very cool. I'm actually teaching my little cousin how to fly fish this afternoon. I'll grab some photos.

...but can she hanglide?
Just kidding. Sounds like she is a very lucky young lady. I am hoping to live in Europe with my family one day - I really think that traveling as extensively as your daughter has is a terrific experience for young (and older) kids.
Don't know if you are in back-to-school season where you live (or if she is starting school), but if so, good luck with it!
Cheers,
Claudia

Looks like you had a great time. I went out a few times this summer (3), but haven't caught a thing. I was using lures though instead of live bait and I will blame it on that. :-(

Lures, jigs, flies, etc can work wonders when properly selected. I'm still learning, but over the past 1.5 years I've progressed from coming back home with no fish at all to catching at least something every time I go fishing... It actually turns into a lot of fun when you find the keys to their hearts (or is it stomachs?) :cheerful:

The poor little princess ;) I wonder how long she had to wait while Daddy was chasing fish.

She was not by herself, no. She just decided to start waiting for me too early. :)

You know, any and all fishing is AWESOME! I have to admit the bigger the better and the more you get the better BUT just going out on the water is heaven. As frustrating as it may be to go out and get skunked, it was still time spent on the water (or even AT the water.) It's all good. Make every catch memorable.

Geno - am I allowed to post a link to a blog I am trying to get "running"? It is NOT a site for business purposes or advertising. It is about fishing. It is going to be a place for people to tell their fish tales and post pix of their fish. Am I allowed to post it's URL? If not, how should I get some people involved? Thanks.

Jeremy, you want to review the forum's rules (http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=53660), or ask the forum's admin, Haiko, not me.
As for getting more people involved, optimize and they will come.
