I recently went to Hawaii to compete with my barbershop quartet. Here are a few pictures.

Beach where Sea Turtles like to bask in the sun....later in the week we went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay and saw one in the ocean and swam with him for about 20 minutes...too cool!

You do look very happy. You need a pre-Hawaii pic of you with a big frown. Contact the Hawaii CVB and ask them if they would buy rights to both the pre-Hawaii pic and the in-Hawaii pic. You never know...it could pay for part of your next trip back. :-)

It looks amazingly beautiful there. The water looks almost too good to be true. Thanks for sharing!

I guess I hadn't thought about how "happy" the pics made me look, but it really was a trip to remember forever. I took about 150 pictures so I won't post them all, but there are a few more I may post as I'm going through them. Especially of Hanauma Bay....amazing. And I was only on Oahu...I've heard that Maui is even more amazing.

You've mentioned that you went there "to compete" with your "barbershop quartet". How did that go?

To most it might sound bad, but we came in 34th out of the 52 competitors from around the world. Each competitor had to qualify at the regional level, so I had to qualify in my region that covers Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa.

There are probably around 700 competing quartets in the Sweet Adelines International community, so while we will be working to improve every day, I'm pretty pleased with being able to say that out of those 700 we rank at 34th. :)

It was a lot of fun and an amazing opportunity to sing for a crowd of about 6000 people.

Your pictures are so great, Sheri. Hawaii is always a place that I have wanted to visit!

My husband recently learned how to swim and I have hopes of learning to surf since my voice would keep me out of a singing group for sure ;)
