Hi there!
I am completely new to affiliate marketing and website creation so I apologise in advance for the very basic questions I am about to ask.
I have hundreds of Viator/CJ text and banner links on my website that I have to change over to SAS and I am finding it incredibly frustrating to achieve.
I want to create text links and also link banners to specific Viator pages. In CJ I could just get the link, paste in the URL to the specific page I wanted the link to go to, nominate the link to be opened in a new page, then CJ would create the html for the text/banner and page link.
I have used Create a Custom Link to a Page to add to text, which has worked sometimes and not worked other times. I am getting the URL directly from the page on the Viator website, not copying part of the old CJ link so I don't understand why it sometimes reverts to the old CJ link coding when I upload it to the website.
I also want to know how to create a link from a banner to a particular page. I have looked on the forum at the Linking to Specific Merchant Pages - URLLINK explained and Viator Datafeed (and Make a Page) threads but am now more confused than ever. I have spent all day today as well as many hours previously to no avail. I think Viator has brilliant product that exactly suits my website but if I am unable to function within the new SAS environment (due to operator inexperience, I acknowledge) I will have to source another merchant and that would be such a shame given the work I have already put in and the fantastic product it offers.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I am beside myself with frustration!
Many thanks, Ann :angelic:

You need to go to the page at Viator but NOT use your previous CJ link to get there. When you do that it includes part of your CJ code in the landing page. You need to clear your CJ cookies and then go to Viator and do a new search for your pages.

It should be easier to use Make A Page in Shareasale to search for your tours. Make sure you are using the Custom version (there is a drop box at the top of the Make A Page page that takes you to custom versions when they exist.) By using Make A Page you can find any tour in our datafeed using keywords and/or category.

If a tour isn't in Make A Page, it probably has been discontinued.

Just a reminder to everyone, Viator passes your id to the url (it did that at CJ and does it now at Shareasale) and makes it part of the landing page url as sort of a double check. You as an affiliate can easily see if your links are tracking by just clicking a link from your site that has your Shareasale ID and you will see ssaid=YOURSASID in the landing page url in your browser.

I actually am not familiar with the CJ make a link, CJ customer support actually told me NOT to let affiliates use it because the urls wouldn't always work.

Hope this info helps, Ann. Feel free to email me again if you need more details.
