I'm posting this in response to the following thread in the Midnight Cafe:

http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=122985

LensWorld does NOT overwrite affiliate cookies. If you refer a customer and they come back through another channel, you will still get credit for this sale.

There are only 2 reasons why you might not get credit:

1. Your affiliate cookie was overwritten by another affiliate cookie.

2. Your affiliate cookie was the last affiliate cookie before the customer placed the order, but we were not able to ship this order. This happens in the contact lens space because of the requirement to verify prescriptions for any contact lens order from within the USA.

I just thought I should post this to clarify our stance on this issue.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Thomas

Thanks for making your policy clear on this. Glad to hear it.

My opinion is merchants do need to be able to track the success of their in-house promotions, of course.
Still not clear how over-writing affiliate cookies helps them do that...

I agree with you that merchants should be able to track the success of their in-house promotions. We do that as well, but we do it with our in-house tracking system.
We in no way, shape or form touch the ShareASale cookie and if ShareASale tells us that a sale came from an affiliate, the sale came from an affiliate!

Overwriting affiliate cookies doesn't help in tracking in-house promotions. It does however help in making sure that every order is only tracked to one channel and there is no double paying for each order.

But again, we don't do it! When an affiliate sends an order that ships, they will receive the agreed upon payment for that order!
