3 States dead to rights.... Many, MANY more (I have a figure but can't share it) sending out marketing questionnaires to large internet retailers.....
Isn't it time we all got behind the Streamlined Sales Tax?
At the risk of dealing in hyberbole... your State could be next.
Affiliate Marketing in the large scale hangs in the balance, folks. It's time to act.

Having just read the Beach Audio response here: http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=123610
I think I've got some work to do. Details soon, but rest assured I will be calling on a lot of you for help in the coming weeks. We need to move on this.
More details soon.
Note: I suspect Beach Audio will be one of many.

I remember Mellie saying it would be a good idea to start compiling links to nexus defnitions by state. This is VERY important, as it is likely to differ from state to state. The tax may not be enforced where you are yet, but you, as an individual, need to be aware of the wording, so that when it does happen (and it will), you'll already have a starting point.
With that said, I took 30 minutes and found the Illinois definition:

(c) is the relevant clause.

Thank you Carolyn. Under the new "broad brush" being used in the latest inquisitions, I'd say there's some risk there. Item 2 under c specifically states soliciting, and that term has moved into the danger zone.
And again, thank you for looking.
The language:
Out-of-State retailers, who have any kind of place of business in Illinois or any kind of order-soliciting or order-taking representative either stationed in Illinois or coming into Illinois from time to time, must collect and remit the Use Tax, as such, from Illinois purchasers for use even though the seller is not required to pay Retailers' Occupation Tax when he does nothing in Illinois except to solicit orders.

Isn't it time we all got behind the Streamlined Sales Tax?Looking at their website they have been at it for quite a while. What do you suggest we could do to move it along?
