Watch out for Morpheus

I had a neighbor test purchase a LS and BeFree merchant on some products he already wanted to buy at the best price. No sales from my Cybermall links showed up at LS or BF, even though they received the products. Now I see why they didn't show up under my account.

Morpheus/Buyersport hijacked the 2 sales by swapping out my ID# with theirs. The neighbor had Morpheus installed on their system along with Bonzi buddy and Kazaa. Ad-aware plus 30 minutes of manual removal work cleaned up their system. Make sure the test purchase machine is clean of parasites.

Mike, maybe you can this to explain to Jamie, who apparently still doesn't "get it", despite Andy Tiger Direct's posts and Haikos numerous screen shots in various threads,

Mike,

Could have also been stolen by ebates, top text, top moxie, etc, etc, etc. It's a miracle that you are ever able to get one sale come through. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I assume your neighbor has now been educated on the evils of parasiteware and his computer is probably running much better and a whole lot more stable. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There was an article this week in Newsweek where all these softwares (post napster) were being promoted as great file swapping systems...which would explain why so many people install them... Morpheus, KaZaam, iMesh and LimeWare were the ones listed.

All four are noted in the article as having integrated ads and a number of having spyware in place.

Cheers

Chris

If you're looking for a good file swapping program with no spyware go to http://www.kazaalite.com It connects to the same Kazaa network but without the ads and spyware.

May all your ups and downs be in bed

Hello everybody,

I'm new at posting but I have been reading the messages for a while.

My questions is; eBates is frequently mentioned as "parasiteware" on this boards. Yet, CJ shows them as one of their most successful publisher. As far as I can see, many of you use CJ as your major network.

Why don't we/you pressure CJ to take action against eBates?

Jason,

Morpheus/Wurld does NO longer hijack any affiliate traffic, they no longer are parasites.

Thanks for the information Haiko. What sites are defined as parasites currently at this moment?

So far that's true Haiko, but Ebates is back to it now...

Every affiliate who's spending money for any type of advertising is getting screwed.

Any affiliate that has good search engine placement is getting screwed.

Any merchant that is signed up and paying 100% of the commissions to ebates even when someone just types in the url, GETS SCREWED.

Where to hell is the announcement on the meeting?

Has it already been leaked to Ebates that everything is fine, keep up the old practice?
