Man I'm coming up to 2,000 clicks to the scooter site and still not a sale.
What is the conversion rate?
Seems alot of work for only 7% and only 5% for phone a sales. How long is the cookie? Maybe it's time to look else where for better conversion rates - any suggestions?

Good question for a first post. The primary job for any ABW sponsored merchant is to honestly post their conversion ratio. # of average clicks to product one sale. Those not getting close to that average need the AM's assistance on better targeting the buying public.

Hopefully I hope I will get a sale soon, based on most my per sale merchants I usually convert a sale within 75-150 sometimes less. time to make more pages.. http://www.abestweb.com/smilies/laughing.gif honesty I need to make another page sometime. man I hate being addicted to checking my stats every 5 minutes.
It depends a lot on why they clicked. If they came to your site looking for a scooter, and you sent them to buy one, you should have had some sales by now.
But if they came to your site to be entertained, and they saw one of Frank's charming animated banners, they aren't very likely to buy anything.

missdonna - your right it could be the animated banner, I think I'll replace it and see how it performs.
Nope don't use the banner or any banners - text and good targeted search engine keywords.
Still haven't heard of any conversion rates - mmmmmm wonder why.

Cotton Flower,
I'm going to be away from the computer for most of the rest of today, but PM me your Shareasale ID and a link to your scooter page and I'll take a look.
Generally speaking, those targeting our hottest selling scooters (http://abw.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=548608979&f=7826001683&m=9006054983)using images and complete product descriptions from our Product Database convert best, followed by those using text links, followed by those using banners only.
Obviously, the keywords used to draw traffic have a lot to do with it as well. We offer a complete list of effective keywords with entry into our Affiliate Contest (http://abw.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=548608979&f=7826001683&m=5276002783).
Shareasale doesn't offer an average EPC score, but eyeballing it I see affiliates who use the Product Database ranging anywhere from $1.50 to $24.00 EPC and all points inbetween.
Bottom line (and as you may imagine by reviewing this board) we're committed to make UrbanScooters.com THE BEST converting scooter site for the holidays. We have several site enhancements scheduled that we feel will ensure this. Keep an eye out... some are scheduled for the end of this month.
By the way... add the Z Mini to the hottest selling scooter list. It just beat out the Z Turbo to become our best seller!
Thanks,
Frank

Cotton,
For some more statistically data. So far this month I have @ 18000 clicks and 8 sales = 1 in 2250. Most of this traffic is from SEO and therefore when someone searches gas powered scooters for example it is difficult to know if it is to buy or just browse, etc. The conversion would be higher for better targeted traffic.

I'm getting about one sale per 300 clicks. But I haven't had one in the past 1,000 clicks, so I'm overdue for one.

Thanks Frank, fcol and missdonna for your comments and your conversion rates.
I didn't ask nor was it commented on to the type of scooters these conversions were on - low priced scooters, gas or electric and how did the higher priced scooters conversions compare.
It seems with SEO affiliates are bringing good traffic forward to UrbanScooters.com.
But the traffic the affiliates is not converting very fast for the affiliates and possibly for UrbanScooters.
Possibly a reason why the contest started to attempt to get better search engines listings thus more targeted traffic and better sales conversions rates.
I'm wondering if it could be the white text on the blue background. Is it to hard for the customer to read the page and be hyped to buy?
I'm currently reading Ogilvy On Advertising and the comments on white text on black background. When changed to regular black text on white background the charity raised twice as much money. Yes, this was for print advertising. Other examples are also given.
I'm wondering... would the conversion rate improve if the blue background was changed to white and the text to black?
Frank you may of already done split testing to find out. May I ask what the results were? Was there any difference?
Just trying to help us all - and yes me first http://abw.infopop.cc/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
If you do, do split testing whith a white background and black text I would be more than happy to be a tester.
Cheers.

Cotton,
Miss Donna's results seem typical of affiliates using images and complete product descriptions from our Product Database. One in 300, average sale in the $200 - $300 price range, average commission per sale being $17 - $18 bucks. Some do better, some do worse.
We're always looking to improve and have several conversion related projects on the table including; a site redesign, an upgraded shopping cart, the addition of new products we feel will convert tremendously well, plus several other projects it would be premature to mention at this time. These projects I've mentioned should wrap within a month.
I consider maximizing conversion rates an on going project and continuously experiment with new tactics... keeping those that work and dumping those that don't. We haven't tested a black text on white background. I agree that would be good to test.
Where the industry is concerned in general, the manufacturers and resellers we do business with love us. We're the #1 etailer with every single brand we promote. In some cases by quite an extreme margin.
One thing to keep in mind. September tends not to be a great month for the scooter business. The summer is great, then it dips in the fall building to an all out frenzy during the holiday season. You'll be happy to be with us over the holidays. Maybe you've noticed, maybe not... take a look around the neighborhood... motorized scooters are getting really popular! I anticipate (and plan to instigate) a lot of press on the subject this holiday season.
Again... I'm still waiting on that PM. PM me with your SAS ID and site and I'll take a look. If you're not converting at the 1 in 300 level I may be able to help.

When you get in the swing of it cottonflower you will find we use the PM's fairly often for sending stuff like that. Never put you private stuff on the forums, some people will not even put their URL's up in case somebody copies their sites.

Remy,
Look for increased conversions in November. We're following the same pattern this year as we did last year. Increased traffic in October with lower conversion. People are checking out our products in anticipation of the holiday buying. They'll start buying in November and since we offer 90 day cookies you're set to receive commission on shoppers looking today that buy before Christmas.
Bottom line... this is the calm before the storm!
We're the #1 selling ecommerce shop with every distributor/reseller we do business with... the sales are on their way.
