Hello all,
Just an FYI, as promised and as with all programs I manage, we are deactivating all relationships with "technology affiliates"
This was just sent to Paul Nichols, i'm posting here for the record:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Dear Paul,
The purpose of this letter is to advise you that as of this Friday, May 28, 2004, I am deactivating the Ebates affiliate account with uSubscribe.com
Per the terms of section 12 of your affiliate agreement with Contrix/uSubscribe notice is hereby given.
"12. Termination - This Agreement may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause, by giving the other party written notice of the intent to terminate. Such termination will be effective upon receipt of the written notice by the other party. Affiliate is only eligible to earn referral fees on sales occurring during the term of this Agreement. Referral fees earned through the date of termination will remain payable only if the related orders for uSubscribe.com products are not cancelled and the products are not returned.
uSubscribe.com reserves the right to withhold Affiliate's final payment for a reasonable time, of not less than 60 days, to ensure that referral fees are not paid on cancelled orders or returned uSubscribe.com products."
I just started managing the uSubscribe program and I'm looking closely at all affiliate relationships. Unfortunately, at this time, Ebates has to be deactivated. The reason for this decision is the same as for all the other merchants I work with. Ebates members that have downloaded the "Moe Money Maker" application will automatically be redirected to an Ebates frame and the originating affiliate link from the originating affiliates site will be overwritten with the Ebates affiliate link, thus not allowing the original affiliate to get credit or earn their commission on the sale. This is also occurring on any traffic originating from any search engine, causing the merchant to pay Ebates for search engine traffic as well that originated from the search engine. Furthermore, we are updating our agreement terms not to allow any affiliate that uses downloadable applications.
I don't believe that any one single company owns the internet or internet users. I don't believe that any company should have the right to divert, overwrite or alter any other publishers links. Your "Moe Money Maker" application does just that to the many independent publishers on the internet. Many of those are uSubscribe.com's affiliate partners and we don't condone and will not accept such behavior. We don't believe that any publisher should receive compensation by overwriting affiliate or search engine links on any website not owned by that publisher. In my opinion, just because an internet user may have downloaded a publisher's software at some point onto his computer, doesn't give the right for that publisher to interfere, overwrite and divert traffic or compensation due to the original publisher or search engine where the link originally started.
I respectfully ask that you remove any links and references to uSubscribe.com from your site. We no longer wish to be associated in any way with Ebates as long as you have the current business model.
Thank you in advance,
Andy Rodriguez,

I want to assure you that when you send your traffic to uSubscribe, you will not have to worry about anything getting diverted or any commissions being stolen from you. You work for it, you have a right to earn it.
Thank you for your support in advance,
