This question was recently submitted to us and I thought it would be a good topic to post here for all to see and read.

quote:
I'm already an affiliate with uSubscribe.com, and I was wondering: do you track the affiliate when a customer pays by check, so we would get paid whether the customer pays by check or credit card?

The answer to this is YES. Now here is how it works and how it is reported to you.

If a customer placed an order on July 1, 2003 and then paid for it on August 10, 2003 we would report both the Order and the Shipment on August 10 with a transaction date of July 1. This order would then be found in your reporting when running reports for July 1,2003 except when running the "Earnings Snapshot by Date and Comp Type" report. The transaction would show up in this report under “ongoing” or in 8-1-03 if the voucher has been processed. In either case it would be grouped with the other transactions dated 7/1/03.

We have tested the option of not allowing check payments to see if the number of people who paid by credit card would increase...the result...0% increase...so we stuck with the option to pay by check.

On AVERAGE 65% of all orders are paid for on the day that they are placed. The remaining 35% become bill later orders. Of this 35% you can expect 30% to eventually pay by check. So for every 100 orders you can expect 65 to be paid day of order and 10.5 to pay by check at a later date(30% of 35% of 100 is 10.5). Of course everything here is a function of traffic quality so some affiliates will see a very different mix. Also on average 95% of all check payments are received within 8 weeks of the order being placed. Those customers who never pay, never get any magazines.

Hope this helps as a FAQ.
