Hello Team,

On Friday October 1, 2004 we will have completed the PL site transition process to our new magazine list powered by Synapse Services Inc. This partnership allows all of our partners to earn substantially more money through their private label by allowing us to establish ranged commission of 33% to 55% on a title by title basis. If your site has not been converted yet it will be on October 1, 2004. Sites were selected for conversion based on historical sales levels and to give those partners who did not meet the new minimum sales requirements (see below) a chance to convert back to the standard affiliate program.

Under the new program all subscriptions will fall into the following four levels:
>> Diamond (20 Titles) - 60% Commission
>> Platinum (100+ Titles) - 55% Commission
>> Gold (250+ Titles) - 48% Commission
>> Silver (400+ Titles) - 40% Commission
>> Standard (170+ Titles) - 33% Commission.

The main advantage of this update is that this will allow us to bring you offers that are more in line with publishers and market needs. You'll see that the titles in the lowest tier are not ones that you sell most often while top titles such as National Geographic, Gourmet and Men's Health are in the platinum level paying 55%. MagazineAgent.com carries 1035 titles as of today all at the lowest authorized publisher price.

There is one major program change on the PL sites that is being forced upon us due to economics and the cost of doing business with the PL sites. Effective October 1, 2004 any Private Label site that does not generate a minimum of $500.00 in monthly sales volume will forfeit any commissions earned during that month. In other words, you will need to attain a $500.00 monthly minimum in sales volume to earn any commissions during any given month. If you do not attain the $500.00 minimum sales volume you will not be entitled to receive any commissions for that month. We realize that this may seem like a large hurdle, but it is the only way that we can bring such high commissions to all our PL sites and standard program partners while maintaining a profitable relationship for everyone.

If you do not feel you can reach the $500.00 minimum, we suggest and encourage you to continue with our standard affiliate program. Our standard program pays exactly the same commissions, same tier levels and same catalog titles. The only difference is that we don’t have the PL site maintenance, costs and overhead to add to the bottom line. If you feel you may be better suited for the standard program at this time, we encourage you to contact us before September 25, 2004 so we can make the change. PL sites will only be able to change to standard sites once a month at the end of the month going forward.

We are very excited about this change and believe that it will allow us to bring our program to the next level. These changes will allow all our partners an equal chance at making the most money possible on any online magazine program on the web today. Should you have any questions or would like to discuss the changes in general please do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help you succeed and we are dedicated to maximizing your revenue.

Thank you for your support,

Hi Joe,

The little guys are going to make exactly the same thing as the big guys. The commissions are the same, the titles are the same. The only difference is the PL site minimum.

Understand this: It costs the merchant money to run, host, design, toll free number call center and maintain the PL site. If the affiliate does not generate a minimum, the merchant is losing money on that PL site.

It's easy to make $500.00 in sales per month, the fastest way is through PPC which is what the PL sites were designed for initially.

As usual you are missing the point...

I have 1135 home page views, 213 click thrus , zero sales

I have 400+ pages in Yahoo since I launched my PL

under the new plan I would be wasting my time unless i can bring my sales above threshold...

knowing all commissions are being forfited till i reach the treshold....

seems to me you are forcing us out of the PL program... keeping it for the super affiliates....

Once again you are showing your bias...

Joe:

What you are calling home page views are simply banner impressions. You have had 213 clickthroughs to your site over the last 3 months but 95% of them to your home page. Home page click throughs convert horrifically with magazine subscriptions. The secret to success in this program is to link to individual magazine subscriptions for higher conversion. As for the minimum, we started a new private label out from scratch last month and had the affiliate make a PROFIT of over $1,000 in the first month by using Google AdWords and only advertising 3 magazines. So as you can see, getting to those numbers is not that hard.

There are simply too many costs for us to absorb on a site by site basis to not require this minimum. Currently our private labels cost us about $50 per site per month to operate between all the various expenses. We have over 60 private labels, the majority of which were built for partners and then abandoned. So yes, we have made a policy change that will allow us to focus on our larger partners, but $500 a month is by no means a Super-Affiliate for us.

I hope that you consider increasing your marketing or switching to our standard Magazine-Agent commissions where the commissions are just as high.
