Here's the top-ten products sold at BackcountryStore.com over the month of May. I've included notes if the product isn't likely to keep selling as well in June. If you are a BackcountryStore.com Affiliate, make sure these products are up on your site. If not, why not join?

Here's the Info:

1. Oakley Smoke Sandal (http://www.backcountrystore.com/oakleysmokesandal.htm) - This sandal and the Big Smoke (http://www.backcountrystore.com/oakleybigsmokesandal.htm) are this summers hottest footwear.

2. Camelbak HAWG (http://www.backcountrystore.com/camelbakhawg.htm) - People use the HAWG for mountain biking and hiking. It's a great size for any daylong activity.

3.Oakley Sunglasses (http://www.backcountrystore.com/oakley-001.htm) - This month the Oakley Minutes were our most popular sunglasses. Last month it was the Fives. Either one is guaranteed to be a hot seller for June. Link to our Oakley Landing page for our complete selection of Oakley sunglasses, clothing and shoes.

4. Gramicci Short (http://www.backcountrystore.com/gramiccishort-mens.htm) - The Gramicci Short is a classic. It is also easy to size correctly so there are few returns.

5. Polar A5 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (http://www.backcountrystore.com/polara5heartratemonitorwatch.htm) - The A5 is a total system for monitoring your workouts. This is a great tool for serious fitness buffs and an incredible price.

6. Petzl Tikka Headlamp (http://www.backcountrystore.com/petzltikkaheadlamp.htm) - A super lightweight headlamp that works for camping, at home, or left in the car for emergencies

7. Marmot DriClime Windshirt (http://www.backcountrystore.com/marmotdriclimewindshirtmens.htm) - This is the ultimate layer for outdoor adventures or wearing around town. I've personally owned one for years and won't do anything outside without it. Backpacker Magazine just awarded the DriClime Windshirt a "Gold Editor's Choice Award" so people are looking for them and we have a huge selection.

We're running low on the Tech Amphibian. We still have it in stock but in limited sizes. Edited 7-03 by Bryan Rhodes
8. Salomon Tech Amphibian Shoe (http://www.backcountrystore.com/salomontechamphibianshoe-mens.htm) - This shoe drains water like a sandal but protects your feet like a shoe. Anyone who plans on going near water this summer is looking for these. Our CEO likes to wear them around the office because they breath better than other shoes. The Salomon XA Pro (http://www.backcountrystore.com/salomonxapro-mens.htm) is also flying out the door. We have less of a selection than with the TechAmphibian because Salomon underestimated the demand for the XA Pro. But we are first in line to get more when the arrive in the factory makes them.

9. Kelty Streamside Tent (http://www.backcountrystore.com/keltystreamside2tent2-person3-season.htm) - We sell a ton of Kelty Tents, so they gave us a great deal on the Streamside which we have passed on to our customers. These tents need to be on your site. You can also link to our full list of Kelty Tents here: http://www.backcountrystore.com/tenkelty.htm

10. Suunto X6 Watch (http://www.backcountrystore.com/suuntox6watch.htm) - Suunto's latest training watch lets you download your training data into your PC to get the complete picture of your workout. We currently have these on sale for Father's Day so they will be selling even better than usual. Put a link up to all of our Suunto watches!

Thanks for your continued support of Backcountry Store. Let me know how these top selling products lists are working for you and what I can do to make them better.

You are all very welcome. I'm working on a landing page for affiliates that would go straight to the month's top ten products. It might have to wait until August after we launch our new platform, but when we get that going our program will go through the roof. I'll start posting new website updates soon.

Sell, sell, sell.

That would be helpful as a landing page for one of the banners, especially one of the rotating banners. It would be cool to have the monthly best sellers on a banner and that lead to such a landing page.

Otherwise what has worked so far for me is to make pages that are very specific and send visitors to the category or search results page. BTW, since your search results are served up by Atomz, does that track properly when a visitor lands on a search results page (the cj advanced options works and the links I set up do go through to the search results page)?

Thanks.

The test orders I put through have worked correctly, but my machine is pretty infested with cookies so I'm checking it out on coworkers computers. I'm also having CJ look into it. I'll keep you posted,

Great, thanks Bryan. I've set up some links in the mean time, but the site isn't google-ized. I've got some time before it's critical.

It's just very nice to send folks to a page of search results relevant to the link of interest, rather than just one item/product, or the front page. I've got a slight allergy to high maintenance pages where I have to keep products fresh. This method means that folks land on your fresh search results every time.

If it doesn't work ... well I'll have to figure out something else, but here's to hoping it does!!

I ran a couple of test orders through the Search Banners with Dylan who runs technical integration at CJ. We both found that the code and necessary cookies carry through the Atomz search engine. The test order I placed went through without any problems.

I would recommend using the code provided by CJ for these. If you make changes and aren't sure if the code is correct, I can put a test order through for you.

Thanks,

Bryan

Cool. I'll PM you. I used the CJ advanced options, so the code should be okay. Much more efficient timewise than when I used to tweek those codes by hand.

On the interactive link, can I change this value

this.value='Site Search';

to

this.value='Oakley';

or whatever product the page is targeted for?

I tried that change and it worked just fine. But notice that this.value='Site Search' appears in the HTML code about three times. I changed all of them to "Oakley". Anybody know for sure if that is necessary?

Thanks Bryan,

Until I know for sure, I’ll just send them to your Oakley page.
Probably better anyway.

hi,

It's great to have such info but I just have a suggestion if it's not already done, please make sure you have the items listed here are in cj database also /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

What iucpxleps said. I've had some difficulty with the search function at CJ for some of the items listed in another thread. The product search is soooooo slow that it gets frustrating when no results are returned for some of those items.

iucpxleps

it's slower esp. if the search query string is long

I feel your pain with the Product Search. It isn't any faster on the merchant side. We have tried to limit are product catalog to the latest and most popular things, but the CJ interface doesn't make it easy to remove products once they are added. Check the "Last Update" date to ensure the product has been update recently. We are currently updating once a month. I will do a better job of verifing the top products are available on CJ.

In the meantime, if you find any specific items missing, let me know and I'll be sure to add them. We do allow image and url changes - click "Advanced Options" on any products "Get HTML" page.

Thanks,

Bryan

I checked the list of products you posted and only found the Camelbak HAWG. Since the other items are in our product feed to CJ, it kinda makes you wonder what happened? I'm working on a new way to keep our product catalog updated on CJ. More info, on a new topic, tomorrow after I run it by the technical guys.

Could you give me some suggestions on how to promote your site. I'v tried to promote your offers in the past and have not had any luck.

Thanks,

Bryan,

Took your advise and added Oakley to the repertoire ... The first day the page went live ... 1 sale so far.

Lets keep it up and I'll add a few pages /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Jason,

I have my graphics guru working on featured product media types that will work similiar to the Overstock.com offers you currently have on your site. That will make it easier for you to have the latest and greatest products on your site.

The other promotion you should feature which doesn't change is our Free Shipping on orders over $50.

And like Dave found out, Oakley Sunglasses are one of our top selling products.

Let me know if that helps,

Bryan
