Okay, the truth be told, I'm not only a merchant I'm also an affiliate...but not in the bad way. I started doing this a while ago in order to learn about the affiliate/merchant relationship.
Here are my sites:
www.skiersjournal.com (http://www.skiersjournal.com) www.mtbjournal.com (http://www.mtbjournal.com) www.backcountryaccess.com (http://www.backcountryaccess.com)
I've got a few more ideas in mind and I'm working on it. Please let me know your thoughts.
I did $2,153 in sales last month through the Skier's Journal site. So, I made like $180. Not great, but then it's my hobby. I like to cover the industries news and I figured it would be a good marketing channel for BackcountryStore.com
Thanks,
John

Hah, copy away. It's PHP Nuke. It'll take you five minutes. It's the content that takes time.

I wouldn't copy. Bad biz.
"it's my hobby"
I bet it won't be long before it's more than a hobby.

John, what module did you use for your "Shop for Gear" section of the skiersjournal site? If anyone else knows what module this is, it would be greatly appreciated. http://abw.infopop.cc/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I would remove the Google links...
They click on those and you get $1.00 and then they buy $1000.00 worth of gear somewhere else.. The Google ads are good enough for SOME sites.. but they stand to lose you money in the long run on sites that you are trying to sell on... IMO =)
NICE SITES

I would test and base the decision on the results. It's simply impossible to make generalizations.

How are you going to do that?
How are you going to know that they click on a Google Link and buy $1000 worth of gear?
I guess declining sales on previously great sales pages would let you know..
All I was saying was that outside links on sales pages to other sites selling the same gear has the potential to lose you sales from your affiliates for a payperclick.. which always pays less... It's only logical..
