My first affiliate program just went live at shareasale, and I wanted to announce it here. For those of you that want to check it out, you can find it HERE (http://www.shareasale.com/shareasale.cfm?merchantID=2813) .
My company, T.A. Rice Co., sells tarpaulins of all sizes, to the home and athletic industries. A quick summary of products in stock looks like this: Silver & Blue tarps, up to 100x100 in size, pickup truck tarps for the auto industry, camo tarps for hunting, home or garden sites, and Yard Tarps, which are really neat tarps that tighten up into bag form, for yard debris removal, or for covering grills, ATV's, riding lawn mowers and such.
I offer 6% on the entire sale, which actually includes all shipping costs, and the cookie is set to never expire. I will approve affiliates manually, to ensure no parasitic elements get into my program. Further, the affiliate agreement states explicitly that no predatory or parasitic elements, as defined by ABW moderators, will be allowed to participate in the program. Any affiliates found to be using such parasitic software will forfeit any commissions due.
I have a long ways to go on this site. It's not 'pretty', and no, it's not optimized as well as it can be: I shall work on developing the site and adding more products over the coming weeks. It does, however, convert - I closed a $1,500 order last week, and a $725 order a couple days before.
The primary advantage that I have over competitors is that I carry oversized tarps in stock, and, believe it or not, those are often 'must have' items, where customers don't have time to shop. Your average brick and mortar shop can't handle 100x100s - they weigh 300 pounds - and customers turn to the internet to find them.
I will be adding customized, American Made tarps to the product mix within a few weeks, so we will be able to fulfill custom orders, which will be even higher in price.
So, take a look, join if you want, but be kind: the site is brand spankin' new. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I will add them to my ever growing list of changes to make!
Yours,
-Thomas A. Rice

Wow! That is an awesome sight, missdonna. We have a ton of large tarps on hand. The only ones I am low on right now are 50x100 silver, every other size we have zillions of.
We can also, up to a point, create custom sizes. We would need an exact diagram of what the tarp would need to look like. The cutters pretty much like squares, rectangles and an occaisional circle, but if you spell out the shape you need, I could send you an estimate.

I'll talk to some people and see if we can even define what's needed. The Swift has so many things that would interfere with the tarp (rigging and such) that it might be an impossible job.
we need to do something, since when it rains everything in the cabins below gets soaked.

That is just a beautiful ship. To afford that, all I gotta do is sell...... well, a LOT of tarps. I think to get my site started off on the right foot, I am going to run a contest. I'll have to think about what to do.

It was such an addictive sillysong. It just so happens to be swimming around in my head again and I can't get rid of it.

It's a lovely boat. The only way I can afford it is to volunteer with the organization that owns it, and crew on it. I get to sail whenever I want, and I don't have to pay a dime. Of course I have to work so hard I'm exhausted by the end of the day. And in the summer when we go away for 5 days at a time I need 3 or 4 days to recover.

Okay, just signed up for you. I think I have something I can do with your products. Btw, why do all tarps fall apart in the sun? I know the junky blue things are supposed to, but can't they make one that lives for several years?
thanks.

I coupla reasons. A lot of the imported tarps do not have UV treating, and they degrade in the sunlight. Also, a lot depends on the scrim or weave count of the material used.
All of the tarps I sell have the UV treating, and have a decent weave count. The silver poly is really tough: with care, it can last several years outside.
Once we add custom size ordering, we will add, actually, an American Made poly tarp that is so tough, it actually specs out against mid-weight vinyl materials: it will last for years and years.
Welcome to the program!

Here is some information about the blue and silver tarps we sell, maybe it will be useful to you:
Blue Tarps-
Grommets spaced evenly, aprox every 3 feet.
Poly rope inside hem to add strength.
Waterproof.
UV treating for extra protection against the sun.
Tear Resistant.
Silver Tarps-
80% tighter weave pattern.
Silver color reflects sunlight, keeping covered materials cooler.
70% thicker polyethylene coating.
1000 Denier.
Reinforced plastic corner caps for extra security on tie-downs.
Grommets spaced every 2 feet for a more secure fit.
Special U.V. coating for extended outdoor use.
Lasts 3-4 times longer than regular tarps.
Also, listed price includes shipping to the U.S., I just wanted to make it as easy as possible for the surfer to make a buying decision.

To help jump start this program, I am going to have a contest. Not huge, but here it is:
Highest selling affiliate at year end will receive a bonus of $250.00, payable in January.
You are all starting out at $0, here, so go for it! You have just as good a chance as anyone else here. The program is only a few days old, and I have less than 20 affiliates so far.
And did I mention, the Pickup Truck Covers make nice, 'manly' Xmas gifts..... /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
