Anyone who wears a belt, chaps, or a tool belt will love this product. There is no other product even remotely like it.
http://www.belt-buckle-knife.com
It is a knife which is held securely in place in a belt buckle. The handiest knife you'll ever own.
Original promotion of this product started at biker rallies. They went crazy for them. We then moved to sportsmans shows and did even better. The isles were literally packed with people trying to get to us and buy the product. It is truly a feeding frenzy of buyers when we go on the road.
We put the product online a little over a year ago and it has done extremely well. We just decided to jump into affiliate marketing and chose shareasale at the suggestion of members of this forum.
This product is extremely popular with men but we have quite a few women customers also. It is very popular but not limited to the outdoors crowd, emergency workers ( police, firefighters, emt) bikers, sportsmen, truckers, or anyone who wears a belt. An extremely popular gift item.
We pay 10% and the average sale is $110 but 3-400 dollar sales are not uncommon.
The knife is extremely high quality 440 c stainless steel and guarunteed til the world stops spinning.
Many designs online now. Many more coming very shortly.
Get in on the holiday sales of this one of a kind product.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or suggestions

Phil...
I like the product and I think that we can sell a few for you...
However... your purchase pages have a toll free number
and a printable form for mail-in orders...
This concerns me since I’ve seen no mention
as to whether we get credit for sales that we send you
if they end up ordering by phone or mail...
Before I could promote your product I would need to know...
Do we get credit for mail and phone sales that we send you, and...
if so... how are you going to track them and make sure that
we get paid through share-a-sale...?
Like I said, I like the product... if it works out, I might buy one myself...

Hi Bob,
Yeah they are a neat product and they are going to get better in the next couple of days. We're waiting on a truckload of newly designed ones that are going to match in quality any knife on the market. Many improvements. I haven't posted this on the site yet because I want them in my hand first. I do have the prototypes and they are awesome.
As far as your question. Well do you have any suggestions. The mail in orders are pretty rare, maybe one in two hundred. However we do get phone orders. Sometimes as much as 15% of the orders are phone. I typically ask how a person gets to the site but to be honest, they ussually don't know. So I doubt asking them would work.
Our customers love to talk to us. They get pretty excited about the knife. We would just not be willing to drop the level of customer service by dropping the toll free number.
Anyone out there have experience in this. We're willing to work on a solution if there is one.
Thanks
Phil
"I might buy one myself" Thanks for proving my point. All guys love these knives. I'm never without mine unless I'm in my Gi. Some pretty famous names out there wearing them too.

Some other merchants are able to display a "promo code" for phone orders, and change the promo code to the affiliate's number/id whenever there is a referral thru an affiliate link. Then it's a matter of doing a manual entry to report the sale.
I assume this is all done through cookies. http://abw.infopop.cc/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes, my suggestion is that you talk to Brain Littleton and have him
tell you how other SAS merchants are doing it... because they do it everyday...
This is not the first time that this question has come up... but the result
is pretty much always the same... No way am I, or most affiliates,
going to promote your wonderful product if we don’t get paid for phone
and mail orders... We’ve got too many other merchants to promote that
don’t steal our commissions to waste time on this type of thing....
This is old news to us...
When I’m shopping on line and I get to the purchase page and see a
toll free number... guess what I do... Do I sit there and go through the
process of entering all of the necessary data...? Nope.. I do what most
people do... I call the number and talk to the nice people and then I give
them my personal information and place the order over the phone...
I think your 15% is a low number... based on my experience... once most
people see that toll free number, they stop entering data and call the number...
I do the same thing so I’ve got no problem with that... however...
Please don’t ask me to waste my time and effort promoting something
that I’m not going to get paid for... I’d rather build pages that are going
to pay me back... it’s the American way... free enterprise... and I love it...
So, thanks but no thanks, I love the product but I’m trying to make a
living at this and I don’t have time to do it for free because I like ‘it’...
fwiw...

Phil,
Shareasale has a simple java script code that you can put next to your phone number to display the affiliates ID number next to the phone number. Just email support and ask for it. Then train your people to ask for the number when taking orders over the phone. Also, you can have it on the mail order forms as well.
It is pretty simple and takes about 10 seconds to implement.

I agree ... Mike's comment is a little over the top and not necessary under a new program announcement.

Although tame by Mike's standards, his message was a lot over the top and not necessary or wanted in any thread.

Chet,
Thanks for the advice. That's cool. I'm on it.
As for Mike I have no idea what he said but probably don't want to.
Thanks guys I do appreciate your advice. I've been a web merchant for a long time and have learned the ups and downs of that but I'm new to offering an affiliate program. This seems to be the place to accelerate the learning.

Actually, who's Mike?
Wow, I guess I just go accused of stealing Missed that.
I may be a bit out of line here being a newbie and all but when a white belt walks into my quan and does something innapropriate I give him a little slack. Course if a guy has some color on his belt and does something wrong thats a different story. I'm wearing white right now partner. Sorry if I challenged you.
Thanks for the advice. That's cool. I'm on it. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> No problem... I also sent you a PM with the code and how to implement it.

I wouldn't feel comfortable promoting the world's fastest knife.
The main promotion point seems to be the speed with which it can be pulled, with a video of someone drawing it in a threatening way.
It may be inappropriate to say this in a new product announcement, and I'm not being judgemental towards anyone else, just voicing a personal concern.
I'm sure there's a market for it and a lot of money to be made.
Interested to know what others think.

Chet,
Thanks again, I put the code on the site in front of every instance of the phone number and on the mail in order form. I've put instructions to ask for it with Liz who answers the phone.
Thanks

Yes we use a bit of an "in your face" sales letter. It's meant to draw attention. The reality is that if you look at the knife it is obviously a utility knife. I use and wear mine all the time. I can say that with all of my years of training if I were in a self defense situation and were wearing the knife, I'd never pull it out.
Yes it's fast. Put that in the perspective of say my UPS driver (who is a woman that wears one) and she saves about thirty seconds every time she cuts off a packing slip. Add that up and she goes home 15 minutes early every day.
It is purely utilitarian but useful in an emergency situation if needed (like cutting a seat belt)
Police officers and firefighters are by far our biggest customers, followed second by fishermen. All of these people see the utility in the one handed operation more than the speed.

I really LIKE the knife! We camp a lot and go to gatherings where we need a knife handy for all kinds of things. It looks like a humdinger to me.
Don't worry about Mike. Somethings just pull certain of his strings and he can't help dancing around. It had nothing to do with you at all.
We ALL have our foibles.
People who have been here a while could tell you chapter and verse what gets a knee jerk reaction out of me, too.
So, just as well you didn't see it or you might have thought it was personal which it wasn't.

Ssanf,
Hey thanks. We all have those little things. I have mine for sure.
And the anonimity here doesn't help. So when does Haiko let you see member profiles around here.

The java script used to show the affiliate ID for phone orders was giving a non secure item warning.
I took it off since sales are booming right now and I don't want to miss any. Anyone know of a workaround. I think because it is refferencing the sharasale cgi bin. Which is a non secure url.
I'll get it back up as soon as possible but can't afford to lose sales because of the warning.
Any help?
Thanks
Phil

Was it doing that on your secure page? If so try this:
At the bottom of the Java script change the url from "http://www." to "https://" (no www in there)
