...just need white hinges and a new floor and it'll be done.

I did the counters last march but just got the cabinets done this week. Great work for when you're sitting around not able to do much (I had surgery two weeks ago - had a Thyroid Tumour removed) - it's time intensive but not labour intensive.

I'm REALLY thrilled with it http://abw.infopop.cc/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

To tile the countertop myself it was $40 instead of almost $1,000 for a new counter top (I already owned the cutter, the tools needed, even a bucket of mastic to glue them on - if I didn't own those you'd have to add another $60 or so to the cost)

Paint for the walls, $26

Melamine Paint for the cabinets $32 instead of $3,000 for new cabinets

New Hardware (handles) for the cabinets $60

It cost me around $160 to refinish the existing room instead of over $4,000 to have it replaced with new. The foundation was in good shape so I had a great base to work off of (the old countertop was ugly but the sturdiest thing I'd seen in my life!)

I'm still painting the window trim and making curtains (same as the paint colour) but I'm SOOO Pleased with the way it turned out!

Wow. Such a difference.

I'm about to head down this road (purchasing first home soon) and can see myself getting into all sorts of renovation nightmares.

We have this wonderful, solidly built, early 70's house. Problem in most stuff like cabinets, floors, bathroom fixtures, carpets are the original builders install. Ayup, I live in a house with shag carpet in unbelievable colour combinations!

I'm working on it room by room. Done two of the bathrooms in tile, replaced all the fixtures, installed hardwood floors in my bedroom...there's still so much left to do, but it's fun!

Looks Great... Have you been watching trading spaces...
I think I finally have the guts to try tile.

Tile is SO easy - really. There's planning needed, but there's not much to it.

I did my bathroom a few years back and had posted the pictures here. It's probably long gone so here they are again if you're so inclined http://abw.infopop.cc/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Bath Renos and Tiling (http://www.parentsworld.com/bathroom/bathroom.html)

Take pride in your creative and frugle kitchen remodeling project. I'm sure the home remodeling companies will hate you for publishing your 160.00 costs.
