I hope nobody joins RideGear.com's affiliate program (don't need the competition), but I have to admit that it is a good program and when they say it has a "Dedicated Affiliate Management team available to provide you with great support", that part is very true.

Jason,
Now that I've got this data feed what do I do with it? How do I create a template?
Does anyone have a template I could see to learn from? I've already got WebMerge and I'm starting to figure it out but I'm confused about how to create a template to display the products and links. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haiko,
Thanks for lending a hand. I'm embarrased to say I have no idea how to setup the webmerge templates but I will always point affiliates in the right direction or get them in touch with affiliates that are solid with Webmerge.
Gixxer how have things been going for you lately?

How quick on the trigger are you to drop affiliates that may be a little slow getting around to setting you up on their sites? I recently built a motorcycle subdirectory for datafeeds and about the time I went to setup the ridegear links, ridegear decides to deactivate me, fine, I go with motoleather etc and the traffic is better than expected. Then about Jan 7 or so I get an offer from RideGear with the 6% deal (MotoLeather pays 7%).
Point is, how fast do affiliates have to jump before they get whacked? This should be posted somewhere. Personally, I don't care about getting whacked twice by the same whacker! Therefore the 6% offer is still sitting there (why I don't know, its been there well over a month now) and I just keep ignoring it, other than using it for a reminder that if I wasn't good enough for you 4 to 6 months ago at 5% then why would I be good enough for you now at 6%. I still got the same ole ugly kind of pages and everything.
This has happened a couple of times in the past where out of curiosity I emailed the AMs when I would get an offer to join again after being whacked and I asked them what had changed? They both explained that they were not the AM that whacked me and didn't know why it happened. All I know is that I am the affiliate that got whacked and I don't like it. Why would I want to make the same mistake twice?
Trigger happy whackers that consider it too much trouble or expense to keep a name on a list may not really know the power of affiliate partnerships or the time it takes some affiliates to build it and get it indexed. I've got merchants that I joined over a year ago that I have big plans for but still haven't gotten around to building out a site for yet, maybe just a single banner on a mall site or something for the time being but if they will keep their knives out of my back long enough I will eventually get around to them. Come to think about it, I did have a single banner for RideGear on a mall site page that I redirected to a motoleather page when I got whacked. Of course that mall page was not a targeted motorcycle directory like what MotoLeather now has. Now I got targeted motorcycle traffic, maybe that explains the whackem, smackem, smoochem deal. :violin:
Sometimes I feel like a ride and sometimes I don't! :tsktsk:

Roadkill,
First off thanks for being honest!
I would first like to apologize for not knowing which site you run therefore this reply may be a bit off the wall. I run the affiliate program at RideGear and I can assure you that I wouldn't have expired you if I would have known you had spent time getting a data feed all set up. I'm sorry we may have wasted your time but every now and then we get affiliates that crank clicks to the roof and won't allow any contact between both parties. All we would like to do is offer sueggestions and help them out. If they won't allow the helpful contact we give a warning and then are forced to expire them.
We will not expire an affiliate for lack of effort unless the traffic is killing our EPC and they won't allow us to contact them and discuss the situation. Like I stated earlier I'm not sure if this is the case with you but we did loose 43 affiliates in the last 4 months due to a problem with CJ. We made a test category and when we moved publishers around we lost some.
I'm certain that we can make a partnership work with you and hope you'll give us another try. Please contact me and we can discuss commissions and incentives. I'm here every weekday to help affiliates! The ball is in your court.

RoadKill,
This is the first time that I see someone made a post with a comment like the one I quoted from you.
Thank you, I thought I was the only one that have done that with some merchants.
I have a few merchants on CJ. on the same wagon, specially after I discovered ABW and learned about the parasites and other issues going on with some merchants.
I'm glad to find out that I am not the only one with an old, things to do list.
Sal.
Note: This post have nothing to do with the RideGear program since I have not joined RideGear yet.

Just joined RideGear and how do I get the 6% Starting Commission with bonuses and incentives? Do you provide any data feed outside of CJ?

Morecy,
We do provide a data feed outside of CJ and we are happy to have you in our program. Please send me an e-mail with your contact info so I can set up the commission change in CJ.

Jason,
Have you checked the link - and code - for sitemap.php?
It's the link that says "List all products"
It's the template for NowOnSale.com - a different LinkProfits merchant :)
I apologize to any partner of ours that may have been confused by the template and I assure those partners that the issue will be corrected immediately.

An EASY quick fix:
1. Copy and paste the header info from index.php to sitemap.php
2. Change the NowOnSale logo to
<IMG SRC=images/ridegear340x150.gif border=0>
3. Change the two text mentions of NowOnsale to RideGear.com
