I remember when Russia was the enemy and I spent 3 years (1967-1970) on the Japanese island of Hakkido (freezing my butt off - we had 11 months of good skiing conditions and 1 month of fair skiing conditions) intercepting all of the Russian Military communications and taking direction finding shots of your transmitters and fingerprinting all of your transmitters.

We knew who was where all of the time.

I also remember that we would watch one of your spy planes fly over our military base and take pictures of our installation every day - then turn around and head back to the Russian islands just north of Hakkido with 5 or 6 Japanese fighter planes that had scrambled to chase it back into Russian air space.

I'm sure glad those years are over with and we're friends now.

And oooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I remember all of the Japanese women (Mooses) at all of the bars that started and went on forever just as soon as base property ended and private property started.

Guess what they did to keep us warm.

When you hear "Russia", what comes first to your mind?

Be honest.

You say "Be honest", so I will say this:

the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear "Russia",
here it goes: ASS-KICKING DANCE! http://www.abestweb.com/smilies/elephant.gifhttp://www.abestweb.com/smilies/elephant.gifhttp://www.abestweb.com/smilies/elephant.gifhttp://www.abestweb.com/smilies/elephant.gifhttp://www.abestweb.com/smilies/elephant.gif

That reminds me, I think I forgot about Tetris when this thread first came up!

I threw many quarters into that game...

(There were some animated dancing dudes in between some of the stages, so those dancing 'phants jogged my memory.)

Neil, that's the whole point! Russians are great and have a wondeful sense of humor. The stereotype - as often is the case - just twists the reality, judging by the "cold Russian faces" instead of the warm Russian hearts. ;) I'm sure you can identify with what I'm talking about. :)

Yeah... I wish this (http://en.rian.ru/russia/20060126/43195628.html) didn't happen. But she'll come back...

Geno, when I think of Russia, I think about all the changes that have been made. I think it’s great our two governments are getting along better, and hope it continues to get even better. I think that the past should be left in the past. I think all the people of the world should be free, and work together to make it a better place. I believe that the Internet will play a big part in it.

But than again, I also think about all those .ru sites that spam my forum.
