... always trying to just keep up, so a step ahead will be great, that's for sure. Thanks for the encouragement. I can't wait to see how it goes. One of these days I'll just have to stop and figure out the datafeed thing. That way I'm not dependant on hand building, or somebody's else's application.

Thanks for the links. I'm not sure how I managed to create a new thread when I was responding to you in a different one. I guess I'm all thumbs today. One of my geek sons was also coaching me today about databases, etc. He makes it sound so easy and I know I just have a couple of holes in my know-how to overcome.

Judi, to get concrete answers, ask concrete questions. I'm sure you can do it (work with datafeeds). And I'll do all I can to help you.

My wicked sense of humor has taken over. I thought we were just making conversation and now I find out you want concrete questions. Ok, here goes.
Why do people cover freshly done concrete work with plastic while it is curing?
What's the difference between "cement," "concrete" and "mortar?"
How do I avoid having concrete or mortar crack in the freezing-thawing cycle?
There's a start. Hope you're not mad - I had to do it.

1. To keep the heat to help cure and debris away
2. Cement is the stuff, concrete has cement with rocks/pebbles, mortar is cement with something else ???
3. Add antifreeze
Funny! Two points. ;)

1. Sounds good to me, but also the plastic keeps the moisture in longer, so it cures more slowly and doesn't crack.
2. mortar: A product composed of cement and sand. When water is mixed in with this product, the cement is activated.
3. Antifreeze sounds good - here's what About.com said: You must build a base that is deep enough in the ground that the freezing-thawing cycle will not affect it. Check with your local building inspector for the exact depth. The base, in turn, will typically rest on gravel, because gravel provides good drainage (remember, it is moisture in conjunction with the freezing-thawing cycle that will cause you problems).
Thanks for playing, Haiko. By the way, I grabbed all these Q and A's from About.com when Geno said I needed to ask concrete questions. Here's hoping he has a funny bone, too. A few more points never hurt anybody.

Judi,
You'd be surprised, but the question is asked totally appropriately. :super:
You wonder why, don't you? Well, see, my father has his PhD in this topic. His dissertation was on strength and resistance of concretes. Oh, I wish he spoke English. He would've had fun, replying to your questions. :emoticon:

I just checked stats and saw it too! Yes, I'm excited. I spent some time yesterday cranking up an ad campaign and it must be working! Here's to many more.
How ironic re: the concrete questions. Thanks for being such a good sport. My secondary job/work is mortgage underwriting, but my 3rd level focus is trying to be funny. 1st priority? Selling little tiny dolls direct from Russia, of course!

Congratulations! And I believe they also put plastic over wet cement so they won't get the inevitable "Kilroy was here" or "notary sojac" written in it.
