The fall bulb season is pretty much done with for the year. There's "Schneetag" (snow) polluting several northern states or threatening to do so soon.

So, it's time to clear the last few orders' worth of bulbs out, before the Good bulbs become dried-up bad bulbs! ;) (Once the season is over, it'll be time to list the spring-planted bulbs.)

Therefore I've put everything on 20% Off sale. This will go on until Nov. 30th. Whatever's left after that gets planted, here! I've put this sale into the SAS Coupons/Deals RSS feed and uploaded a graphic to SAS (BannerID = 46766). (You can also mutate a text link, but don't forget to change it back on Nov. 30th ;) )

The Southern and Mid states (the northern part of the South, like Tennessee) are still fairly balmy in comparison to the Frigid North, so there should still be plenty of people out there who can still plant comfortably.

Also I included the Paperwhite Kits in the sale. So, if you've got (or can get) traffic interested in a potted plant, you can try to persuade them to order NOW for best savings!

Happy Selling!

Bulb selling season ends in November?

Looks like I'm way too late. When does bulb selling season start again?

There's 2 main bulb selling seasons. There's a spring rush, too, right about the time tulips and such start to bloom. Also there's a big promotional push in February with gardening companies scrambling to get their brand out there.

So I'll have the spring-planted bulbs up soon (for spring shipping), as well as giving people the ability to pre-order the fall-planted types.

Not really too late. I think the Paperwhite Kits will do well for the holidays. They grow indoors, and are given as gifts quite a bit.

Also in February people stuck in the Frigid Tiers of states begin to get stir-crazy and start looking at the gardening stuff. That's a good time to have your site SEO'd and ranking, to get those cookies set.

The plant version of "Retail Dreamin' Season" starts then, so I'll probably be doing lots of promo just so people remember GoodBulbs exists even after being blasted with catalogs from every Tom, Dick and Harriet. But actual sales will most likely kick in when the ground thaws (March or April).

Have you considered leaving fall bulbs in the datafeed with an "out of stock" notation when you add spring bulbs... so we dont lose positions in the SE for our fall pages..

Or do you have another idea???

Oh, goodie. I finally got my bulb pages up last week (I only planted a couple of weeks ago, not being anywhere I have to worry about that white flurry stuff until probably January). Put in a blog entry, but I have to update my WordPress. Which means I have to install PHPMyAdmin... which majorly iRoombas. Not sure the bots are liking my broken WP.

So... I'll gladly add the creative to my main c*ntent page. My Narcissuses (narcissi? narcs?hehehehhe) are already up, and I just noticed the freesia up this morning.

One relative lives in S. Californica, and he thinned some naricisses that are about as old as I am, and got blooms again after many years without.

The ones in February. Would they be the same bulbs or different things? Sorry, I'm really bad at this. Would February bulbs be things like tulips, daffodils, and what you have in the feed now or something different?

Have you considered leaving fall bulbs in the datafeed with an "out of stock" notation when you add spring bulbs... so we dont lose positions in the SE for our fall pages..I've mulled that over, and decided to run a poll. I remember some posts in the past, where people wanted merchants to dump OOSes altogether, so I want to try to get some more feedback on this...

I know that there are some varieties that definitely will NOT be offered next spring, so in any case, I'll be removing those after the end of the year. I'm only leaving them in now because someone asked me not to 404 'em yet...

Narcissi don't need it as often as tulips, but eventually they do need it, at least in areas where the growing conditions are good. (Where they're not so good, they tend to go away...)

Spring-planted bulbs are different. But I'm not sure exactly what kind I'll get, yet. I know there'll be some gladiolius, and I'd be crazy to miss out on onions and garlic (even though the last two aren't flowers, they're still bulbs). I'm still thinking about other varieties to offer (if anyone has any ideas, let me know and I'll consider them!).

I'll also change over the fall bulbs (tulips, etc.) from Sold Out status to "pre order." A lot of people want to order fall bulbs when they see the blooms from last year's planting. In fact, I may do that BEFORE Christmas, so people can give their friends the wonderful experience of a gift they have to wait 9 months to get ;)

Since some SE's are taking longer to index new pages, I don't think it's a bad idea to leave the fall bulbs in the datafeed if they are going to be available again in a few months.

Well......., that can be a good or a bad idea, that depends on how close those friends are.

You can give all your friends the gift of a single rose http://abestweb.com/smilies/rose.gif, or even a bunch of flowers http://abestweb.com/smilies/flowers.gif nine months after you meet them but, I don't think it's possible to give all your friends the wonderful experience of a gift they have to wait 9 months to get, if that wonderful gift happens to be a brand new http://abestweb.com/smilies/newborn.gif.

Sorry Leader, but most of people that wait 9 months to get something, they're usually expecting a baby. http://www.abestweb.com/smilies/rotflol.gif

Maybe I should ship a bit later, for the gift ones. Usually the fall bulb shipping starts in Sept, which would be 9 months from January. Might be better to ship in Oct, for the gift orders! LOL

*Checks WordTracker*

Bing, bing, bing.

Thanks!

I'd comment some more, but, I'll let the competition get their own WT subscription. But that's *definitely* a help.

Might as well go all-out and ask what colors you think would be good
