Switching GSI links from CJ to BeFree No Big Deal.

When I first saw that GSI was going to shift from CJ to BeFree I wasn't pleased. We have tens of thousands of GSI links on our sites, and all I could see was a swack of overnighters to change them all.

I left it for a day and then I wrote Mike at GSI an email outlining what we had available and asking for some pointers in converting our links from CJ to BeFree. He wrote me back explaining the process and once I saw where he was going with it, (maybe two minutes of reading his email and five minutes of tinkering with BeFree) the actual effort on my part will be fairly small. The tool on BeFree is very, very easy to use.

I actually think we may do better with BeFree because I've suspected for quite some time that the CJ tracking is wonky.

If you're having problems with the links I'd suggest that you email Mike directly. Five minutes on my part saved me hours and hours and hours.

Of course, you could always sit and whine, but that won't make you any money. http://abw.infopop.cc/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

CodeJockey hit the nail on the head!

I earlier posted the following:

I have PM'ed some of you who have asked about swapping out your links or creating new ones.

I urge you to contact me via email or PM to discuss your specific site. Everybody's sites are different should be treated as such. In most cases swapping out links isn’t as painful as you may think that it is.

We are offering a great link redirection tool within reporting.net. The tool allows you to create a link to any destination of your choice. Simply go to the advanced link section within reporting.net and plug in the destination URL of your choice. With a click of a button the new code will be given to you.

Product Links and Data feeds will be available though Befree very shortly.

If you have any questions about our links or swapping over your links please let me know. If the questions are specific to your site I prefer that you contact me personally via PM or email.

Thank you,

Mike

Swapping in new links seems simple enough.
Will the gsi bunch be relying mainly on conventional text and image links, or likely to roll out wider range of content links once they're settled in at BF?

I swapped out my links last night and found it pretty simple. I actually was glad that GSI went to BeFree due to better tracking and personally I like the interface better.

It would really be awesome to be able to check today's sales, though, during the day.

So what happens to commissions earned through CJ? Do those get paid out even though the threshold has not been reached?

FFOC,

I read the thread and see that people are speculating reasons for the move. We saw the move to befree as a positive step to go along with all the other exciting changes to our program.

CJ consolidates payments, so you should get paid as long as the combined total [from ALL your merchants put together, not just GSI] equals or exceeds the threshhold.

Provided that no GSI reversals happen, of course. (If they do reverse, the unreversed funds will still be paid as long as the combined total still exceeds the min.)

May I ask why?

The consolidated payments at CJ and ShareASale are one reason I don't have anymore BeFree merchants on my sites.
