Well that was a short winter break--orders have resumed! Which of course, is good!
And, it also means that I'm getting the feed together for spring 2006. If all goes well, I should be sending it to SAS over the weekend, and they'll activate it sometime Monday.
LILY orders are beginning, and I can be pretty sure of availability for the more common varieties. But, there may be changes to these (especially the more unusual/hard-to-get varieties) between now and the Estimated Spring Shipping Start time in April. I'm putting them in now, though, so everyone can get SEO'd before the ground thaws.
Hint: According to WordTracker, LOTS of people misspell "lilies" by giving it 2 ls instead of one ("lillies," "lilly"). Not most of them, but lots... might be good if you can figure a way to catch these as well as the correct-spelling searches.
TULIP pre-orders for next fall are happening already! Fortunately, I know which tulips will be available and can be sure that I'll be able to get the kinds I put in. Nearer to the fall, I may add some other types, too, but the ones going in now all have "5 Nines" certainty. (99.999% certainty.)
Tulips start shipping mid-September, but customers are out there RIGHT NOW and willing to order! Most of the Competition has shot its own foot by taking down their Fall catalogs--so capitalize on their in-the-box thinking by pushing tulips now! Let those "other" bulb places wake up in the fall, only to find that the party has already happened...
NEW CATEGORIES:
Lilies (obviously ;) )
Bulb Vegetables - Onion Sets and Garlic. They're both bulbs, and I think they taste good. Figured I might as well put 'em in, rather than buying 'em for myself at retail :)
DISAPPEARING, never to return:
Categories that are disappearing:
Hyacinths - Don't ask me what's wrong with people, but these beauties didn't go anywhere...
Paperwhites - Uberdud.
All daffodils except for the Naturalizing Mix and (new variety) Orangery. For some reason every Joe on Earth was using standard daffs for a loss leader. Since I'm not willing to lose money on every sale, everything that won't move at a real price is history.
Varieties that won't be back:
Queen of the Night tulips. These are the "black tulips" that WordTracker says everybody is interested in. A stealth dud! I guess they only want to see a *pic* of them.
Apeldoorn Tulips. Some reds are more likeable than others. This one isn't one of them, famous or not.
Darwin Hybrid Mixed tulips. In a way this is good, it shows people finally are getting some opinions when it comes to what they want in their gardens.
Any other tulips that don't end up in this feed but were there before, won't be back.
Here's to the first full year of bulb sales, and many more to come!
