I know some of you were VW fans and thought I'd show this one....(I miss this bug)...I had it for 14 years. This photo was taken not to long after I painted it.

With just a few minor mods this bug would really come off the line. I had 1600 dual ports, with 009 porsche centrifigal advance, and a much lightened flywheel. I beat a '73 Mach1 Mustang to 40mph once. You should've seen him bangin' his dash board in disgust.

I painted this bug with 16 cans of Krylon "True Blue" spraypaint (three coats). Though, as you can see, I masked the car thoroughly, and sanded the heck out of it. The Krylon held up well, for 5 years.

looks great ;-)

I did a VW in 11 cans once, but I can see where the extra 5 cans made a big difference!

No runs, no drips, no errors..... LMAO

Well, I'm going to have to get pictures up of my four old VW's:

69 Fastback
70 Deluxe Bus
72 Camper Bus
72 Bug

I read a posting recently about the spray can method and how with proper sanding you can get a pretty good looking job. Might give it a try on my old bug first.

Thanks for sharing.
