Placed an order through my aff link with Sephora on July 28 - Order arrived within a week and my CC was charged but still no sign of the order in my commission reports at LS - I've submitted a tracking ticket via LS and emailed the aff manager. :complain:

all this gets me worried about adding LS links.

Just ask yourself if they're on 2 networks with one cart. That often is the reporting problem as these type merchants only seek affiliate traffic ... not sales partnerships. Many carts can't handle parsing multiple network cookies, and the house cookies from cross channel campaigns, for commission reporting purposes.

Are you saying that there was a cookie conflict? the one that occurs when the same merchant belongs to more than one network or different ad channels?

Exactly, and the AM knows it, but gets silenced by the other members of the merchant marketing team cliaming their efforts resulted in the sales. Real Management could care less about not paying the proper affiliate commissions as every washed sale = more profit.

I really must disagree strongly with Mike about the cookie conflict issue. It just doesn't work that way.

First of all, Sephora is a Linkshare merchant, and has been for several years. So there is not any other program. They convert very well for us, and have had almost no tracking problems. Submitting the inquiry is the best way to resolve the issue. They have a very short return day, so you may want to check your non commissionable item report. Also, if you are on the site, and go off for any reason, like to comparison shop, the session is broken, and tracking is lost.

Carts do not handle multiple network cookies. The sale is credited to the last referring affiliate. For example, links were switched for shoebuy from bfast to CJ. The very next day, orders were in the cj report for shoebuy, even though the bfast links were still active. The sale goes to the last link the shopper clicked on.

I still haven't heard back from Sephora or LS about this and the sale hasn't showed up in my LS reports.

I clicked their link on my site and placed the order after looking around for various products but didn't leave the site. Should have tracked. Glad to hear Sephora performing well for you, skishore. This gives the program some hope, although they won't be on my site after this mishap.

I don't know if they're on any other network. Mike, do you know if they actually are?

Rexanne, did you check in the non commission item report?

And I am fairly certain they do not have any other programs.

Yes, skishore, I checked non-commissionable reports. Nothing there. :confused2

Rexanne, one more question, did you use any code or coupons with your order?

No. I'm loving the stuff I bought though. LOL - My big consolation. ;-)

Rexanne,

When you said you submitted a tracking ticket, I assume you meant that you used the Transaction Inquiry System, is that correct?

"I don't know if they're on any other network. Mike, do you know if they actually are?"

No, they're just on Linkshare, have been for many years.

Yes, sent it to LS and also to Sephora - so far, no sale has shown up and no reply from wither LS or Sephora. It's so damn frustrating to WANT to promote a merchant and then find out they don't track or credit sales.

Sorry to say this merchant is a big bust.

I'll be replacing Sephora links with other good cosmetic merchants(of which there are plenty). Not worth the agro.

Rexanne, I've recently (within the new pay period) earned commissions with Sephora. I was wondering about tracking because of your last post, but recently I've seen a gain :)

I don't know what to tell you.

I am sorry that they did not process the commission off of the purchase you made, many companies would. During the "after holidays sale" I bought myself a bra from Fredericks and that tracked ;)

Good to know you've had sales that tracked, Rhia7.

I tried emailing Sephora again yesterday about this - email bounced. Just gets nastier ...

Do you have UPromise, SchoolPop, iGive or eBates software on your PC, cuz Sephora's listed in all these BHO/Loyaltyware programs... yuck.

Nope, this is a squeaky clean machine. Sometimes, I wonder if vermin are able to steal commissions no matter how one gets to these sites.

Knowing that Sephora allows parasites in their program is a good indication of why I haven't heard back from them and makes it easier to rip them off my site, though.

Thanks Donuts!

Don't know if you heard of MS Windows OneCare.
I found several nasties my other spyware removers including MS Defender didn't detect before.
Do it at night or if you don't need your PC, the deep scan takes several hours (depending of what you have on your PC) but it's worth it.

Thanks Zeus. I'll check it out although I am the only one using this machine and my computer tech guy set it up so tight, I doubt anything could get past the flotilla of defense.

I'd love to hear from Sephora about what actually happened with this sale ... then I'd at least know.

That's what I said before running the new MS OneCare. I'm quite paranoid with these dirty applications but some are still able to sneak in. You'll be surprised.

I'll run it tonight and report back on what it finds. Thanks again!

Just ran it, clean :)

Probably not a parasite problem, something wrong on Sephora's end.

:bump:

Never heard back from the Sephora AM or LS on this and no sale has been credited to my accccount. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

BTW - Zeus, I was going to run that app to check for spyware but I would have had to disable my other 3000 protection apps to run it so I passed. I know I don't have any nasties on this machine. It would be like trying to get into Fort Knox with a nail file ...
