So, my dad's been in the hospital for the last week (complications from surgery, but he's doing much better) and I've been spending a lot of time there. Anyway, they have these mirrors mounted on the ceiling so that people can see around corners and it gave me an idea for a picture. So, I snuck my camera in a clicked off a quick one. Enjoy.

That's a very interesting picture. Perhaps you should consider entering it into a photo competition. A number of different companies seem to offer photo contests. I know National Geographic has such a contest with a different theme every month.

Thanks for the compliment. I'll snoop around and see if I can find one and enter it.

Jon,

That is a cool shot and I know how sensitive hospitals are, I got shut down at a local hospital while taking some pics of the staircase..I think I showed it before. Problem is I don't speak the local palabras worth a crap...thought I was in big trouble ;-)

I hope that Your dad is doing much better and that you DON'T get a chance to shoot that again!

It's funny, because I kept walking around, just kind of milling, until there was no one in the hallway. I couldn't imagine that it would have been OK to start taking pictures and I didn't even want to ask. I got lucky because it was on Saturday and the entrance that the mirror was near was closed.

Thanks for the well wishes and you're right, I hope I NEVER have the opportunity to take this picture again! :)

Very cool. Reminds me of the pics you can get at Millennium Park in Chicago.

Cool pic!

Bet it would've been quite comical to see you milling around with a camera waiting 'til everybody's gone to take what would appear on CCTV to be a picture of the ceiling!!

Best wishes to your dad.

In a similar vein, here is a "mirror" shot I took in Baltimore a while back - and have been using it on one of my Baltimore my Websites ever since. http://www.Baltimore.to It is from above the entrance to a Discovery Channel Store.

Great shot Beachy! I love any type of abstract stuff.

HarveyC: It actually was pretty comical. I was totally like just shuffling my feet a whistling like they do in the old movies. As soon as the coast was clear, I whipped the camera out of my bag and started snapping.

Thank you for the well wishes. Dad's doing much better!

Adam C: Are you talking about "The Bean"? I was in Chicago for the first time a few month's ago and saw it, but didn't have a chance to go and explore. It's definately on my list for next time.

Makes me dizzy as well. I have a bunch from the bean that are great because you so rarely get pictures of your subjects, front, back, the photographer, a huge metal thing, and a skyline.
