Hello All,

I first would like to apologize for there being two posts in this area. My first post was in the introduction area and I only mentioned looking for a AM as part of my introduction and why I joined this board. That thread was moved to this section as I was doing my research for the post you see now. Geno suggested I make a request here for an AM.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are looking for an Affiliate Manager (AM) to assist us with launching our affiliate program which we anticipate launching Jan 1 2007. An overview of our software and it's development is:

We have an exclusive contract with the National Crime Prevention Council (www.NCPC.org). They are a government sponsored non-profit which created "McGruff the Crime Dog". We are able to use the McGruff name and image on our software. We have launched one piece of software "McGruff Disk Check" and plan a series of child safety software. The site is www.McGruffsInternetSafety.com

We are looking for someone (or assistance) in (thanks for the list Geno!);
• Identifying and recruiting new affiliates
• Maintaining stimulating relationships with the current affiliates
• Developing and monitoring affiliate promotions
• Reporting for affiliate marketing promotions and activity
• Maintaining on-going communication campaigns
• Identifying and implementing other opportunities to enhance the affiliate program
• Keeping affiliates up to date on new products and any program enhancements
• Continually motivating affiliates to perform better
• Keeping track of affiliate sales and coordinating payouts to affiliates
• Monitoring and reporting on competitors’ affiliate campaigns and promotions

I envision this position would be p/t, work from home. Location is un-important. We are open to a variety of compensation plans and at this point have been using 1shoppingcart as our payment gateway, email list/responder and affiliate manager.

Any ideas, suggestions or comments are welcome! We feel this is a great opportunity to break into the child safety software market with a nationally recognized icon. I can be contacted at steve (at) mcgruffsinternetsafety.com

You might do well to consider an Outsourced Program Manager (OPM), and many of us can tell you that the best in the business are here at ABW.

Thanks for the information, however I'm not exactly sure of the difference between an OPM and an AM? (sorry... I guess I DIDN'T do all my research!)

Would you be so kind as to explain the difference or to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

Steve,

OPM's usually manage several programs as affiliate manager for each, some even have a staff to helm them do this. If you are looking for a part time person this would probably work well for you as you can get someone with experience that is not expecting you to pay them a full time salary. An additional benifit is the OPM's usually have their own set of affiliates and can easily introduce your program to them in their weekly/monthly emails, versus a new AM who has no following.

There are many listed on the home page for ABW. Take a look at what they have to offer and then contact those who interest you.

Oh, just realized you are in Vegas. You might want to check with Deb Carney. She is an affiliate manager right there in Vegas and could probably help you a great deal. Her contact information is loxly @ teamloxly.com (pulled from her signature here at ABW). I know she is out of town this weekend, but probably reading emails. She will come highly recommended by folks here at ABW who have worked with her in her other programs.

As far as keeping track of affiliate sales and coordinating payments is concerned, the easy way for that part is to go with a network that handles all that end of it - and also has consolidated payments for affiliates. That's a big plus.

Thanks for the information Ron and WebWorker! It is very much appreciated.

I can't take credit for the list, it was "borrowed" from one of Geno's posts.... =)

Thanks Ron!! I am certainly home this weekend, I only went out of town for the day on Thursday :)

Steve, I said Hi in the other thread and now Ron gave you my contact info also, lol. I'd like to chat with you over coffee even if you don't end up using me as your OPM :)

Hi Steve,

Welcome to ABW - you'll fit in quite nicely here! :)

I am working with a merchant at the moment who is using 1shoppingcart.com and has been for some time, though has plans to move away from it soon as he's growing and now requires customization options currently not offered by 1shoppingcart.com.

It was a viable, decent option for the last few years however. I recommend you take some of the other folks' advice in your other thread regarding other avenues you may consider taking, cart-wise and do up a comparison list to see which option best meets your needs.

As for outsourced program management, I would be pleased to speak with you about my service options and fees. I am based in Toronto but available on an outsourced, telecommute basis as well as for periodic travel as required.

I will actually be in Vegas in January for the Affiliate Summit conference - I recommend you attend if at all possible, as you'll find a WEALTH of info available to you there not to mention thousands of great networking opportunities to help you get answers to all the questions you have about getting started at launching your affiliate program, what to expect from your affiliate channel, and much more.

My advice - if you DO go to Affiliate Summit be sure to seek out the ABW folks who are all there! :)

Once again - please feel free to contact me regarding service options and fees for same - looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Warm regards

Steve,

Just read in another thread that you teamed up with Deb Carney for your outsourced program management. Glad you two were able to get together and I'm sure the two of you will be very happy with the outcome. Deb provides much experience/knowledge and has wonderful people skills. I'm anxious to see your program grown under her guidance.

By the way, I'll be in Vegas in January for Affiliate Summit. Hope we get a chance to meet while I'm there.

Steve will be hanging out with the Loxly crowd, so you will meet him for sure :) Thanks Ron, Steve's program is a perfect fit with what I like and know how to do :) I've already blown his head off a couple times I think, but the good news is he *listens*. Too many merchants/clients don't listen. I see great things coming.... soon too :)
