Hey all, For those of you who have done Vegas many times before what is your favorite hotel. I will be coming in Friday and staying until Wednesday and I missed the group cutoff for rooms at Balleys. I am debating staying downtown Friday and Saturday -the rates are much lower but I just dont know. Bringing my Hubby along and we will be stopping scottsdale on the way Thursday so he can go to the big car auction (just to look and dream). Anyway any feedback on favorite hotels would be much appreciated, I went to the summit in LV in 2005 but thats the only time I have been there.
Thanks
Beth
P.S. Ann (clevermoms) will you email me when you get a chance :)

Here is my two cents....
Personally, I find downtown a little scary. I have stayed at the Four Queens and the Las Vegas Club. Both were fine, but the neighborhood is a little sketchy.
I found a good rate at the Aladdin, which is up the street from Ballys. If you are willing to stay off the strip, the Orleans is nice, clean and cheap. The annoying thing about the Orleans is that you have to drive to get to the strip. It is only a few blocks away, but far enough that you can't walk.
I hope that helps.

Not sure if this is much help, but here is a map of the "Strip" to see where other hotels are in proximity to Bally's:
Thanks -I was just looking at the Orleans website, it looks like that would be fun for Friday and Saturday...will probably do Balleys sun and mon but the rate for tuesday night is WOW...lol

If you husband wants to see some nice cars he needs to head over to the Imperial Palace casino. They have a car show/exhibit all year round. It is within walking distance from Ballys. If you go to their website they have a free admission coupon and you can save the $5 or $7 I think it cost to get in.

I stayed at The Orleans a year ago last October. It was decent enough. The place and the room are little worn but a good price. Good bed. VERY dark drapes :winking:.
They have a free shuttle into town. Drop off is right next to Ballys. Last one back was around midnight. After that I think a cab was about $7 or $8.

If you stay downtown... the money you'll save on the room will be eaten by taxis
Plus... the time factor.
If someone says "Let's all change and go name-a-place-at random"... you'll need an hour and a half to go back, change, and return.
While the official schedule hints you'll have free personal time... you don't.
Just saying "see ya' later" to everyone you pass in the hall can kill an hour.
(Stay as close to Ballys as you can get. But as always, that's just my opinion.)

I love the Aladdin and when I checked they had good Sunday and Monday rates but Tuesday was high. They're going through some construction but it's fairly seamless (at least it was a few months ago) to guests.
Good Luck!

Oh, the reason the rates are so high that week... Miss America pageant is at the Alladin and the finals are Monday so the contestants etc start arriving the Tuesday of Summit... So rates are high the rest of that week...

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Unless there is a public scandal and I get lots of press and as a result lots of sales, meaning bigger checks and ultimately many diamonds, a summer house and a pool boy for her named Ramone that she secretly calls Ramoan to her girlfriends when I am not around, but I know. Oh yes I know.

I don't know about the whole pillars and mold thing, but dear Hubby and I count 6 kids, 11 grandkids and one upcoming (Aug) great-grandkid! Billy was just being sweet.
