Hey Everyone,
This will probably only be of interest to those of you in the Pacific Northwest, but here goes:
-----------------------
Starlight*Starbright of Washington will be hosting Seattle's only Academy sanctioned Oscar Night® America celebration on February 25, 2007. Watch for your favorite movies and stars on a giant screen while dining at one of Seattle's favorite entertainment locations, The Triple Door.
Start with a red carpet entry and a champagne reception, followed by gourmet fare inspired by Wild Ginger served at your table while you enjoy the 79th Annual Academy Awards® ceremony by live telecast on ABC television. Stunning auction items will be available throughout the night. Academy Awards® official programs will be proved at the event. These are the same ones given to guests at the Hollywood event. You will get to cast your vote for best movie and actors. Prizes will be awarded to winners.
Proceeds from the event benefit Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, Washington State. Please support and join this fun and entertaining event!
Request tickets to ensure your seats soon, or to learn more, please contact Starlight Starbright at (425) 861-7827 or visit their website at:

-----------------------
Our whole family will be attending this event (Alex & Nick will be greeters at the door) and Alex's Coupons will be making a donation of $3000 to Starlight Starbright. Starlight Starbright is one of our favorite organizations as they see how important it is for kids with serious illnesses and their families to be able to relax, laugh and enjoy special experiences together. From diagnosis on, they are there for the kids and their families, both in and out of the hospital.
Starlight Starbright has built playrooms and teen lounges, and donated portable gaming stations and computers to hospitals across the country. They have even written software programs so that kids can play games that relate to their particular illness. While out of the hospital, families are able to participate in special events such as zoo outings, harbor cruises, special parties, musicals, concerts and more. When families are going through treatment, things like this more often than not, go by the wayside. If not for financial reasons, then for a lack of time to plan something like getting theater tickets. When your child is going through treatment so much is going on and you never know when you will be in or out of the hospital.
So when you get an email saying that tickets are available in two days for a show that's been sold out for months and you happen to be out of the hospital. Woo-hoo, Family Fun Night! A chance for you child to put out of their mind for a few hours all the stress and fear that surrounds them on a daily basis. A chance for you to see your child that works so hard to be brave during treatment and faces so much pain on a daily basis, laugh, joke around, watch with baited breath and then (during a performance of Beauty & the Beast) at the top of her little four and a half year old lungs scream "Go Beast!" Then when you think she's done, hear her yell even louder and more exuberantly, "Yea Beast!" This was definitely one of our favorite Starlight memories!
Anyway if you're interested in more info feel free to PM me or email at tmartini at glencove dot com.
Take care...
-- Todd
P.S. The food at the dinner is made by the Wild Ginger kitchen staff and it's incredible! Also here we are at last year's dinner...
