Pursuant to the nominations which ran for over two weeks, I am proud to present the finalists who are listed in order of nomination. Voting will end on Tuesday Feb 20th at 10PM

Note: You can vote for more than one, but only once.

Removed purplebear based on http://forum.abestweb.com/showpost.php?p=662344&postcount=11

Crocket,

I voted for Mark Welch but, now that I have done some checking, I guess that you're almost right........

But, since we may not want to turn this votes into a hanging chad like on 2000, it looks like markwelch was closer to 2006 than purplebear, because purplebear was here first, but now that the damage is done, you can let it go.

So now it's up to you if you want to start another hanging chad war on 2007.

I'm not sure how folks measure "new" membership here, but I certainly did post at least 100 messages during 2005. I'm pretty sure I should be disqualified from being considered a "new member" in 2006.

I suspect folks were confused and through of me as "new" because before mid-2006, I posted under a pseudonym (as I explained in my "re-introduction" (http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=78096) in August 2006).

Yes, I have the same join date as . . . everyone who has been around since before January 18, 2005. I assume that was the "reset date," but there don't seem to be any posts from me from before until June 2005.

I think I was around here before that, since I was active on various advertising and affiliate forums going back to late 1996.

Wow, I just noticed this last night. Congratulations to Mark and Matt, and my sincere thank you to my fellow ABW'ers for even mentioning me. I've enjoyed and benefitted from this community immensely (more than you can know) the past year, and if my interaction here has provided value to this forum, I am good with that!

Coming from a poor Quaker upbringing such as mine, where I did not have the obvious advantages and financial privileges that Matt and Mark had, it is very gratifying to see that my undying internal commitment to scrathing and clawing my way to the top by providing invaluable insights, inspiration, guidance, and a few chuckles along the way has been noted at all. :hi5:

Thanks gang - the privilige has been mine. :howdy:

Next year when we're making nominations, it would be nice if we could have a tool that shows who the most active new members are. Does anyone here have experience writing mods for vBulletin?

Active is one thing.
Making a real contribution is another thing.

Oh geez! Another no-way-to-decide contest

They are all equally great

Guess I'll go with whoever has the best hair :)

Active is one thing.
Making a real contribution is another thing.Right. I'm not saying that all the active ones should be nominated. Just that it'll help us see who the new ones are. I have a feeling some of the other great new members were missed. When they start contributing and become part of the family, it seems like they've been here forever and we don't think of them as new.

Michael, I'll work on it for next year.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with this poll?

Oh that's just great Alan, guilt everyone into voting for you, poor boy.

HAHAHA! Alan honestly contributes more on a bad day than I do in a good week. By the way buddy, I will be in Denver next week - get in Monday night and leave Tuesday morning. I know you are not in, but if your boys are up for something, let me know.

Had to vote for Matt as a fellow UT alum. Three good choices though.

I agree with Michael, there were most likely new members that were not nominated because we just didn't realize they were new in the past year. And others, like Mark and purplebear, that made significant contributions in the last year and were thought to be new because they were quieter, or like Mark, posted under a different user name in the past.

As for what to do with this poll, not sure what to recommend.

Matty, I am in Denver the 28th of this month!! :( So bummed as I might be, I can guarantee the guys will be up for getting together with you. By all means call Zach and he can get plans made. Be sure to do it too! It'll be a pleasure for them to show you our town.

As for your all too kind words, I feel the same way. Undoubtedly I contribute far more on a bad day than you do in a week, but gosh darn it, you are such a great guy dude!! Hey, I got it!!! Let's pool our votes to overtake Mark :cheerful: :cheerful: :cheerful:

Haiko, as far as what to do with this poll, I am perfectly happy to be "one" of the ABW members. Nothing else needed. The opportunities to learn and to share ideas and opinions, and to offer input / advice where I can in my areas of experience are why I joined this family, and I have had tremendous opportunities this past year to do just that. No other gratification can surpass that. So thank you all ABW!!

That certainly wasn't my intentions Sal.

I wasn't trying to get Mark removed from the poll, I think he is a good choice. I was just trying to get purplebear back in since she shared the same "yr" of joining as Mark.

I was looking at it from a point of fairness, sorry that I stirred up the pot, you can award me with the "Worse New Member 06"

Thanks man!

One day I hope to at least get a nod for "least deviant" category in the Miss ABW CPA network contest.

Another year, I suppose *sniff*

Miss ABW CPA

This category sorely needs at least one stunning female candidate who would get my vote by default :)

And I've checked Matt's posts:

30% are "Check your PMs"

30% are "got it, thanks"

and the rest is some insurance dribble :escape:
