A couple of nights ago I heard a cat crying outside in the middle of the night. I ignored it, figuring someone left their cat out and it just wanted to go back inside. Well at 4:30 this morning she was crying again. I had been wishing for a cat all day, I miss my cats that are living with my daughter 3000 miles away.... so I went outside and looked around. Told myself that if she comes to me, fine, I will see if she needs a home. She came running across the front yard hollering at me.... practically jumped into my arms.
More pics here (http://www.nightfireproductions.com/gallery/v/familyandfriends/NewCat/).
So I'm off to the store to get litter and cat food. She is NOT an outdoor cat, hasn't messed anything up in the house yet, hasn't touched the tuna or water, so she isn't starving. You can see from the pics she is in great shape. I opened the patio door to see if she wanted to go "home" or out to go pottie and she looked at me like "are *you* going out there? I am NOT going out there if you aren't..." Not an outdoor cat.
I will check with the neighbors and see if she belongs to someone and for some reason got out. But for now she is quite happy and is even picking up the fact that I don't want her on my desk :) However, while I am gone if anyone gets a gobblygook IM from me.... it's the cat.... honest!
Once I was told that the real difference between cats and dogs is the following:
Dogs belong to us!
We belong to cats!
Our furry friend has made a good conquest!
Happiness to you both,

How beautiful! I hope you get to keep her.
I wish I wasn't allergic to cats. I'd have a dozen of them. Of course, that'd drive my pup crazy. The birds probably wouldn't appreciate it much either. :D I'll have to settle for occasional visits with my sister's cats.

Deb you are incorrigible! You without a cat is like me without a dog...incomplete.
Enjoy your elegant gray kitty and I hope no one claims her so you can keep her. She sounds like a very good girl.

Awwh hope nobody claims her..she is a really pretty cat. :cheerful: I've only ever had one cat cos the poor little guy had been starving and abandoned. I'm allergic to cats too but just couldn't find anybody to take him....didn't have the heart for the alternative... so had him for 18 years. Just didn't actually touch him (used a pencil or something else handy to pet him under his chin lol and my doctor got to see me quite often. lol :)
Agree...very lucky cat to have found such a nice home and owner who'll appreciate him.:cheerful:

Congratulations on your adoption!
I was once adopted by a black cat whom I loved fiercely until I had to put her down. She had stomach cancer and by the time we noticed anything was off kilter, it was too late. She was wonderful though and I still think of her often.
Let us know if she ends up claiming you permanently and share what you decide to name her.

That WAS *my* bed... I may have been relegated to the guest room....
meadowmfn... I used to breed birds (parrots) and cats and they all got along great. I had a sulfer cockatoo that used to pop the cats on the head with walnuts as they walked by his cage. He was wild caught, no cage could hold him, he would go into the cage and get a walnut, climb out and up to the top and wait for a cat to walk by... it was hillarious. Would have made a great youtube video, but was pre digital video days....

Hey Lox,
If you're looking for a good name for your fine feline friend, what about ALASTRINA? It's a Celtic female pet name meaning "defender of mankind" :)

Deb, I have a good feeling that your "wish" for a cat has come true on this one. Congratulations on the new house buddy. I miss having our cats, but they don't last long up in the hills. Enjoy her, she is a beautiful feline. :cheerful:

I miss having our cats, but they don't last long up in the hills.
If a cat wants to be an outdoor cat it doesn't live with me. My babies are indoor only.
I have left the patio door open for her to show me she wants to leave, and she'll have none of it. If she did have another home, she didn't like it there and has choosen to be here. So unless *she* decides otherwise.... she's mine.
