Since I took a gazillion new photos last week in NY, I thought I would share a few of my favs :) If you don't like NYC click away now.... :)
One of my favorite places, I lived on this square (Washington Square Park) for a year... notice the Empire State Building?

Guess who I thought of here:

And a cool carousel in Bryant Park, where btw they have WiFi!

Central Park from the Top of the Rock - Rockefeller Center

The Empire State Building - also from the Top of the Rock... I can't tell you what a teen aged girl next to me said it looked like, this is a family friendly forum!!!!
http://www.coolnycgifts.com/gallery/d/1313-1/top-of-the-rock-nyc-april07-DSC07875.jpg
And you can see lots of bridges... all the way to the Verrezano...

Thats it for now, I might post a couple more favs tomorrow... if you want to plow through the whole collection its at http://www.coolnycgifts.com/gallery they aren't all loaded yet, I haven't gone through the pics from the top of the Empire State Building yet, including my first trip to the 102nd floor!!! That was cool.
But the best shots from this trip are in the Top of the Rock album... I was blown away.... and almost literally!!!! :) It was *extremely* windy up there. My camera bag almost blew off my shoulder!
Anyway, hope you enjoy this little peek into Loxly's NYC :)

Nice pictures. What's the arch? The only way I get to see NYC is to watch Letterman. :howdy:

Thanks for sharing the pics loxly!
My best friend and I had a trip planned to Massachusetts but we had to cancel this week due to her start date at a different practice. We had considered just taking a weekend trip to NY and I think those pics just sealed the deal
Thanks :coolsmile

The arch is the Washington Square Monument at Washington Square Park. Here is a night shot:

That is Fifth Avenue that you can see through the arch.

Yes a weekend trip to NYC can be fun... be sure to go to Rockefeller Center, it's actually a better view than from the top of the Empire State Building because you can *see* the Empire State Building :) The only thing is you don't see the Chrysler Building as well, it hides behind the Met Life building. If you have time, do both :)

One more... This is the view from the 86th Floor Observatory at the Empire State Building, that is Fifth Avenue and at the end you can see the Washington Square Monument...
I don't recall seeing that in my other images from the Top of the ESB on the one other night I was up it several years ago. I am thinking the Monument may not have been lit that other time. Or I just wasn't looking for it. I didn't see it when I was up there, it jumped out at me when I was reviewing the photos :)

Hey Great Pics Loxly,
They wouldn't let me in NYU so I went to Pace downtown :)
Washington Sq. Park was my favorite hangout.
I used to rent a small room in an awesome 5 story brownstone on Horatio Street in the West Village during summer break from the dorms. That was in the mid '80s'.
Funny I was just downtown by my alma matter and snapped some shots of the old hood also.
Thanks for sharing.

She probably said that to tease you because maybe she saw you taking that other picture "On Bleeker Street"

Excellent pics, Lox!! NYC always impresses me by its monumentality (not present in most US cities), and your photos stress it in a beautiful way...
Thanks for sharing these with us!

Did somebody sell the Arc de Triomphe?
The other side has statues of George Washington, didn't realize I put up both shots of the "back side" :) The fronts are here (http://www.coolnycgifts.com/gallery/v/washingtonsquarepark/) :
Thanks for the compliments everyone. I love NYC and Las Vegas and I guess it shows in the photos I take of both places :)

Very nice pics Loxly!
I actually work a block away from Washington Square Park!! I could've bumped into you. And I went to NYU for my bachelors so I've been in this area for 5 and a half years now. Downtown is my second home, my first being Brooklyn.

Maybe in May I can "bump" into you :) I plan to split a day between there and Ground Zero/Battery Park... I *almost* got an apartment at Battery Park, but a week after I applied they released a subsidy program for encouraging people to move back to the area and my application got buried in a flood of new apps... :( But I ended up in Astoria in a very nice apartment for a year instead :)
(btw, very cute stuff on etsy!)
