WTG Noth! :clap::clap::clap:

I'm not one of the quitters ... but I absolutely admire those who stop feeding RJ Reynolds.

:) Thanks folks...

To me, the best part, and this will seem odd to those of you who have never smoked... But the best part is driving past a convenience store in the evening, tired, and not having to think: Do I have enough left to get through til tomorrow? Do I need to turn around and buy some?

The addiction literally consumes you, in so many ways.

I don't mean to make light of it. I never smoked cigarettes, but I did smoke the occasional cigar, which I quit about 15 years ago.

The guy that cut my hair for 30 years was a BIG cigar aficionado, and twice he offered a Cuban to me, and I could not refuse. Those were my only two mis-steps in all these years, and he's now retired so I don't have that to worry about anymore.

And people who smoke smell worse!

I'm trying very hard not to act like the reformed ex-smokers I used to hate, but I still want to encourage anyone who can quit to get it done now before your health begins to fail.

Mr. HOund... I didn't think you were taking it lightly at all. Everyone has their own personal addictions that govern their day. Mine was smoking, your's was ice cream.

At least we're saying WAS now.

Thanks all for the support.

And yes, food tastes much better now. If it's any good to begin with... hehe.

Both my uncle and my mother-in-law had mouth and throat cancer so seen what it does do to you very up close and personal.......don't want anybody to have that happen to them so very happy for all of you who are doing this. Know it's not easy but it's definitely worth it.:) Not gettin on any soapbox lol but have tried to help friends who've stopped and one thing that worked according to them (with the especially very sentimental type lol :) ) If you've got kids or grandkids......think of all them special times you wanna be here like them graduating, getting married, having a baby, just goin fishing with them on their first fishing trip, little special talks ya have with them. Those times mean a lot to you and you wanna be here for them, so put their pictuers up on the fridge or someplace and if you get a craving anytime..go look at it and ask yourself if you wanna be here for them or how would it make them feel to have to watch you sick.

Sounds probably stupid but a friend who had 3 small kids said it really did help her:)

Biggest thing to stopping is to actually honestly make the decision that you want to do it, you yourself, not doin it cos somebody else wants you to but you finally making the decision you want to stop cos that's what you want to do. Wish all of you the very best in stopping, sending ya all the positive encouragement possible:) and think you're all really doin great so far.:):):applause::applause:

My son passed this tip along to me. I only needed it for a month or two, but it really, really helped.

If you're used to smoking in the car while driving, you probably automatically reach during certain situations, like red lights, etc. Then you're caught in a stressful craving situation.

Find or buy a 4 or 5 inch bolt. Attach a nut to it and keep it where you used to keep your cigs. When the urge hits or you find yourself reaching by habit, you have something to keep your hand occupied - spinning that nut up and down with one hand while driving substitutes for the cig and if you drop it, you're less likely to set your lap on fire.
