I posted a week back getting confirmation on the Newegg policy and whatnot. Pretty much, it was a train wreck of trying to explain it. So instead of trying to do more futile explaining, go to geektuner.com and check it out.
Anyway, I applied to Newegg's affiliate program the other day (Friday i believe) on CJ. I at first was thinking, "ok, its only bout 2% and theres no mention on cookies or anything... the user has to buy it after opening the page from my site for me to get anything... but hey! it might work". I then noticed it has 3 days of cookies in, and I already have word from bout 10 people that plan on visiting my site for recommendations before purchasing their computer over the next few months.
Realize- I haven't even gone on a full scale "launch" yet. Its still in testing and loading it up with content to ensure when I do work to get the 1000 hits a day, while in the meantime I'm putting it on bout 1 or 2 small forums I hit up to get their reactions to the site. So far- excellent feedback on the plan for the site:
-provide a place for people to go to figure out what to build with the money they have to get the most for it.
The final process I have before "launching" it is getting my Newegg links affiliated. How much longer should it be to be approved, and is there anythign on the site that goes against their policy that I should change in the meantime? I made sure theres no bad language, and I'm keeping it G-rated. I'm only getting about 50 uniques a day right now, but my goal is to get to 1000/day by adding more content and things (I carry a notebook EVERYWHERE I go that if I get the slightest idea of adding something to the site, I write it in there) and getting the word out there in every possible (legal) way.
I have backup plans if the Newegg affiliation doesn't go through, but I want to do whatever possible to make sure I get the affiliation before I give up.
