Fire in the Sky

I never get tired of watching the sunrise when I am in Ocean City, MD. Yesterday morning (9/21/07) there was too much cloud cover to see the sun - but the red end of the visible light spectrum certainly broke through the clouds - to create a sky that looked like it was on fire. The photo below is just as it came out of my Nikon D50; with nothing being retouched in Photoshop or other photo software. I did, however, resize it an compress it to fit on the Net. To help set the scale of the image, the visible horizon is about 15 miles away...

(And, yes Deb, the full-size image is now on ImageKind :D).

In poor contrast is the sunset of the previous evening, as seen below in this hand-held shot...

Our condo in on the 12th floor in an oceanfront building and situated so we get both sunrise and sunset views.

in the second one, i love the contrast of people / house lights to nature's lights behind it.

Very nice work! It's like I'm there, and not simply looking at a photograph!

Beachy, what's the link to the Imagekind gallery these are in? Some folks might want to link to them :)

Thank you, all, for the kind words. That was one of those sunrises one only gets to see a [very] few times in a life span. It was truly awesome in person.

Loxly, there are a gazillion sunrise images on ImageKind. But here is an entrance to my stuff: http://travel.imagekind.com/ (not an aff link). I will be adding more images...soon...I promise...(I did get some interesting shots at a kite festival yesterday :D ).

Beachy,

Your photos are just beautiful.

I would love to see shots of the boardwalk, maybe early in the a.m. before all of the people get there.

Do you take any photos of lighthouses?

Very very nice, Beachy. :)

Notice the extra "very" in there. It's important. It makes the statement.
