This one takes the cake http://dalojewels.com/trip_to_Israel/images/Israel_20070517_011.jpg Rhea October 11th, 2007, 08:32 AM Gorgeous photos. I love the shots of the Mediterranean and the old buildings, especially those narrow, winding foot paths. What is that picture that Eric posted below? Is that at an art museum or gallery? Do you know how they made that? Because it is seriously cool, organic sculpture and I want one!!! (When I worked as the exhibits coordinator at a nature center I tried to start an organic sculpture garden but management wasn't interested in interpreting art and nature together which really torqued me off.) Howard Gottlieb October 11th, 2007, 08:50 AM We love Israel. Have been there a few times. Last time we stayed in a condo owned by some friends a few blocks from the Old City. Jerusalem is the most stunning city on the planet. For anyone who has not been there it is one of those must do journeys. Enjoy your trip. Wish we were going too! KristenG October 11th, 2007, 10:43 AM Wow, absolutely beautiful pics. Thanks for sharing :) Enjoy your trip. Kristen dalojewels October 11th, 2007, 11:16 AM Gorgeous photos. I'm not sure which water images you are referring to. The ones with the boats or taken from the boat are of Lake Kinneret (the Sea of Galilee). The ones with the swimming pool in the foreground are of the Dead Sea. I think the winding foot paths you are referring to are the paths from the desert up to Masada. The suspended orange tree is in Jaffa and is a full grown tree. Rhea October 11th, 2007, 11:52 AM Thanks for the explanation about the tree. Do you remember what they planted it in? It looks like a giant coconut but I'm sure that can't be it. Jaffa oranges are the best. Unfortunately we rarely see them in our supermarkets. lookingfortips October 11th, 2007, 12:34 PM Very cool! Question- were you by any chance escorted from the plane by armed guards? lol I've only been to Israel once (Tel Aviv) back when I was a flight attendant and we were escorted by armed guards once we got off the plane and were taken to our hotel. Scared the crap out of me! I also like the photo Eric pointed out. And I notice you are wearing your jewelry! :) Rhia7 October 11th, 2007, 05:19 PM Great pics! The photos are excellent pictures of interesting subjects and you must have been busy snapping all of those priceless shots! :) dalojewels October 26th, 2007, 12:03 PM Very cool! And I notice you are wearing your jewelry! :) We didn't see any military in Tel Aviv although some of the buildings looked like they had been bombed. We saw some young girls in uniform on the streets of Jerusalem. There were armed guards and military in the Old City especially at the Wall. We also saw groups of teenagers probably heritage tour groups who had military personnel with them. The only other time we saw military was at a check point we passed going from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. I wasn't wearing any jewellery but my wife wears our jewellery all the time. Actually we seel a lot of jewellery right off her neck. dalojewels October 26th, 2007, 12:04 PM Great pics! Whoops! All this time I thought you were a female. I saw your wife's photos and thought it was you. Sorry! :) oziman December 18th, 2007, 10:06 AM Can't believe I missed this thread.. Next time someone comes over send me a PM, we'll go out for coffee, talk shop and you can write off the cost of Airfare for business purposes. Cheers RSnapper January 22nd, 2008, 04:45 PM Myself and 30 family members toured Israel in October. The reason for the trip was that my Grand Parents were being honored at Yad Vashem for their work in saving a Jewish family during WWII. Here is a link to the story: Jerusalem Post "Righteous Dutch Family" (http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1192380656527&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull) The tour of the country and the Yad Vashem Ceremony were amazing. bibby January 24th, 2008, 03:46 AM RSnapper, What a story. My mom does Jewish Genealogy and has told me a number of heoric stories about families that sacrificed their own lives to save jews during WWII. These people are truly heroic and can make us all feel better that even with the horror that went on in Europe, there were some people who put humanity above their own safety. Your Grand Parents are truly righteous and you should be extremely proud of them.
