Is there a fee to promote you??
Looks like fifty bucks a month to be a part of PetEcommerce.com

From the site:
How much does it cost to start my store?
PetEcommerce.com does not charge any set-up fees. There are absolutely no hidden fees. We just charge you a monthly subscription price of $49.99 a month.

:)

Nah - can't be Beachy!

He specifically states:

If there was a monthly fee, he would have MENTIONED IT!

You guys are quick! :) Yes, the program is $49.99 a month, but you will make more money per sale than any pet supply merchant affiliate program i know of.

I guess, copy and pasting the "how it works" section from our website left out the monthly fee :)

No offense, but a fee to be an affiliate is so ten years ago, and a monthly fee has got to be one of the biggest deal breakers I've ever seen.

also, are these individual shopping carts?

Billy Kay
October 18th, 2007, 03:27 PM
No Herb...

Once you put something in your cart and hit checkout, you're no longer on your site - you're back to petecommerce (with their own logos and branding - not your)

And even tho it's afternoon in all of america... their live help is offline(?????)

http://www.petecommercestore.com/misc_images/BuyDude%20Banner.gif

And there are leaky banners on your shopping cart page, so the visitor you spent $50 to attract, can leave and go to BuyDude dot com :)

Not true - Each store is a separate shopping cart. There is no mention of us unless you chose to. For example: we have a "powered by petecommerce.com" badge some partners have used. Some partners also make sure that their customers know that when they send an email, we answer it.

IE:

"The store is Partner Store of Petecommerce.com and is operated by PetEcommerce.com. Your order will ship from their warehouse and your purchases will be billed to your credit card by PetEcommerce.com once your purchase is shipped. "

I went to the sample site, placed something in my cart, hit checkout and went here

http://www.petecommercestore.com/show_cart.cfm

(not sure if it will show)

but all the logos and nav links all resolve to petecommercestore rather then the sample store of simplypetsupplies

Herb,
Actually, thanks for pointing that out. To answer your questions, PetEcommercestore.com is our test store for development, and nothing more. It is not suppose to be open to the public. I see that SimplyPetSupplies.com links to it ... not sure why, but SimplyPetSupplies.com is a demo store for example purposes only.

The actual partner stores have there own cart and do not link like simplypetsupplies.com does.

I will find out why that is happening in the first place.

ok - i must have randomly picked the one item that didn't work :)

best of luck - don't think you'll find many takers willing to give you $50 a month for an unknown entity (if you're name was Wal-Mart or PetCo... maybe)

I was being Devil's Advocate: individual shopping carts offer much more protection from parasite activities.

But that's still a lot of money.

Yes, $50 a month is going to be hard to get affiliates, with no real guarantee you will make sales.

What Haiko said.... good luck with that concept.

While 30% caught my eye, after looking through the site your prices are 50% higher than most pet stores online.

Your shipping on a 1 or 2 lb item is $10 no matter where in the USA you're located.

High product prices+high shipping+$50 a month= good luck no thanks.

You haven't even addresed tracking.

Billy Kay

I'll set you up a site for pet supplies and I'll only charge you $48.99 per month and the shipping will only be $9.99 on any item - even a $2.00 item.

I won't track phone sales though and I will have banner leaks on it.

What do you think???

Are you interested???

Look at what you get when you click on the Buy Dude Banner http://buydude.pricecomparison.com/

This is really a well run business and website.

Who would actually pay to promote another person's product?

I remember when my SO was looking for a J*b (yes, strange isn't it)
He was offered many times the 'opportunity' to sell products for a commission door-to-door, etc. He'd only have to invest a few thousand pesos for the wonderful opportunity.

Even he Bless his heart knew enough to say no. How is this any different?

there have been online offerings where you paid the company to set up a shopping cart. some folks did well. every hit and transaction was theirs. but they didn't have to pay over and over for the privilege.

To answer some of your guy’s questions and concerns ……..

We do no consider our self an affiliate program. Affiliate programs consist of a merchant that is taking online orders and affiliates send them traffic and our paid a commission of orders. Yes, our model is very similar to this, but we could also say our model is just as close to a sales rep. Both are paid for sending orders to a company and are paid a commission on the orders.

We do not have an online store front that we take orders from. We offer our partners storefronts with there own shopping cart and no redirecting or mention of us.

We offer 3 times the average commission payout for pet supply merchants and the reason this is because we do not make the majority of our money on product sales and we want to pass any profits to our clients. We are a service company offering you a good program with a storefront, fulfillment, and more for a small price every month.

All of our prices are set to the MSRP because a large majority of our clients our pet retailers that own a brick and mortar store front and we do not want there online store competing with there offline store.

As for shipping concerns….. Our shipping prices are not any higher then most pet merchants and we offer Free Shipping over $75, on all products no matter the weight. Very few pet merchants offer free shipping anymore.

Tracking Concerns – You get your own store front, so there should not be any worries about tracking. If you mean, how do you track your sales, commission, etc. This is built into the software back-end.

As for phone sales …. We do not even have our phone number listed on our partner stores yet, and this is something that we will be implementing when our clients are producing more sales. And yes, we do have affiliate tracking for phone sales.

Banner leaks …. There is an old banner of ours on our development domain ….. that’s all …. This will not be on any partner store fronts. BuyDude was also a test domain of ours in the past, so I don’t think this should show the credibility of a business.

Again, I want to reiterate that we are in the business of passing on profits to our partners …. That’s how we can offer 30% commission on sales, compared to 8-10% like most pet retailers. 50 bucks a month is nothing if you are converting pet supply sales regularly.

Also, if you are trying to make a point on shipping prices, product prices, etc. Show us some examples.

You guys are tough  I guess we were warned before we posted though … Thanks for keeping my job fun!

Any other questions, just ask!

We do not have an online store front that we take orders from.

Then what's this (http://www.petecommercestore.com/show_cart.cfm?PID=14692&CartID=B56E8396-BDD5-004C-D445A81D9C3C6589)

We are a service company offering you a good program with a storefront, fulfillment, and more for a small price every month.

Please translate that. You don't make (majority)money on sales?

As for shipping concerns….. Our shipping prices are not any higher then most pet merchants and we offer Free Shipping over $75, on all products no matter the weight.

Not correct your site says "Any orders below $75 are charged actual UPS real-time shipping rates. "

This is simply not true. It is really a lie.

Tracking Concerns – You get your own store front, so there should not be any worries about tracking. If you mean, how do you track your sales, commission, etc. This is built into the software back-end.

Not much

As for phone sales …. We do not even have our phone number listed on our partner stores yet, and this is something that we will be implementing when our clients are producing more sales. And yes, we do have affiliate tracking for phone sales.

No we don't -yes we do!

I don’t think this should show the credibility of a business.

On your site "Who is PetEcommerce.com?
We are a group of Internet “pet” entrepreneurs. We have been in the pet supply e-commerce business for years and we are using our expertise in the pet industry and e-commerce industry to help retailers earn more revenue by having an online presence."

How about this, state who you entrepreneurs are where you're located all that basic stuff.
I searched the company name and there are ties with Paws Up, what's that all about don't they have an affilaite program.
I also found that this whole concept came into being a few months ago in July.

Also, if you are trying to make a point on shipping prices, product prices, etc. Show us some examples.

How much is you minimun shipping costs for say 1 pound, $10 on your site

Any other questions, just ask!

I asked
