Hello All,

Let me introduce myself, my name is Dave & I'm the marketing director here at VideoGameCentral. We are one of the net's largest classic, new, used & everything in between video game & accessory retailers.

We have a very liquid market & video games are probably one of todays hottest entertainment products even rivaling Hollywood movies!

I joined Abest web to communicate directly to the publishers, potential affiliates, and game site/electronics enthusiasts. We are a part of some of the "Affiliate Brokers" but in all honesty there seems to be obviously alot of underhanded non-sense involved with them & honestly you guys are the ones we're looking for.

We offer better commissions/conversions directly with our in house program users and offer a real person to speak with & try to customize solutions to our direct genre related sites.

If you take a look at our site here: http://www.VideoGameCentral.com
you'll see that we offer quite a bit & this Q4 will be nothing short of fantastic for our partners & publishers.

So with that being said, we'd like to open up to Abest web publishers/affiliate partners 8% comission across the board on all sales. And of course as stated in this forum an additional coupon code of $10 off with a purchase of $90 or more for those originatining links...

So it's now a no-brainer for your customers with this code, your commissions & of course our already low prices for a ready to go holiday season..what more could you aske for?!

In fact if you want to ask for more, please let me know. As like I had said earlier I am new to this and value everyone's opinion so if there is something you want to see, please contact me.

We also offer scalable potential to sites Alexa ranked 3,000 or more. So if this applies to you, ,once again please contact me.

I look forward to working with the community here on this forum & best wishes to all.

If you have any questions or suggestions & would like to sign up, I can be contacted here:

For only 8% and a site that says 'place order by phone' as well as TWO (or more?) Google Adsense ads. I'd rather pass.

Hi David,

Great looking site and welcome to ABW. You should probably have bought a program announcement for $75 to promote your program and get the backlink to your homepage.

Here is a link to the program announcements section:

Welcome aboard!

Hey there,

For the most part, our phone number is located there for ready & available customer service. And honestly the people that "call and place their order" really are few ard far between. These customers don't usually feel secure placing there order over the internet anway & would have not of been an option for most of our partners. Also if you check our coupon sections, you will see that this offer is not available to all.

And as for the google adwords. That is our own account & is very minimal and in no way, shape or form a revenue generator for us. But then again , I don't really see how that's going to affect a partners' sales..especially if they are targeted??

Thanks liquidate,

Yes I did see that announcement section, but I wasn't sure as to whether or not that applied for in-house programs. And currently our team here is constructing a Q4 promotions package & I will probably wind up posting there again with a more detailed breakdown of programs & suggestions.

Thanks

Even if they don't feel secure placing their order online, you are still taking away an affiliate sale from an affiliate which is not a fair practice IMO.

Also, with all of the things like adwords on your site and other links which leave your site, you are potentially driving away the traffic an affiliate sent you or possibly even sending the traffic to another affiliate's site where their cookie will now be overwritten and they will have lost the sale even though they are the ones who earned it.

Although your site looks great, you will need to do a lot of work to make it affiliate friendly.

It applies to almost all programs, unless a network representative specifically places the announcement within their forum for you.

Also since you are in house,,,are your affiliate links going to be direct links with tracking, or are they going to be links like cj or share-a-sale which bounce through another server or site and then direct to your site not giving you free SEO benefits.

By making the affiliates use direct links, you are getting free SEO from them, which many affiliates (especially the ones in the Alexa 3000 and up that you are so fond of), will not be happy about and probably will not go for. Noone wants to give away free SEO.

You may also want to remember that just because they are in the Alexa 3,000 and up, does not mean they can or will generate even a single sale for you. It just means they have traffic. What you might want to aim after are the ones who rank high in niche sites and can send very targeted traffic that could convert for you.

You may want to rethink your strategy and pay for your advertisement and backlink.

Hey Dave

I like your site, I am curious how you are going to track sales. I am local to your store on crossbay and passed by many times. I don't sell video games right now but that could change based on your tracking solution.

Yes indeed,

You have a very good point. That's why we offer a targeted solutions for niche sites, which no doubtedly offer better conversion. I was just saying that because we have higher trafficked affiliates that do great with our program because it's targeted from within their network.

And the links are direct to product page links, but honestly that is the reason you are getting the higher comission rates. And dependent upon the traffic/targeting the skys the limit within our industry.

For the interactive industry which includes but not limited to DVD's, Games, Systems the usual comission starts at 5% and really never peaks over 7% , as this is standard.

If you come across starting programs that offer more stateside I can match it.

And of course the program users can see eveything from the originating sale link to the name, address & sale amount of the purchase. The program is very simple & see-through & integration is just as easy.

Looking at the site, I have to agree with what has been said. The number is a leak as is the adsense if they are negligible it shouldn't be an issue to remove them. I'd prefer to see an 800 # with affiliate tracking tacked on anyway. The adsense ad is really just visual filler and really adds nothing to the site.

We originally had a 800 number for a while, we then pulled it because we received alot of "cheats & tips" request that tied up CS lines. Then we changed the number to a toll call therefore filtering out the serious CS problems.

We will be re-instating the 800 number later this year. Also as I stated previously the adwords do not leak because it's really just place holders.

We have a very large gaming community, user videos, reviews & more. So many of our customers feel more comfortable making purchases with us. :D

Don't get me wrong, I'm just saying to attract professional affiliates who can sell everything you have in stock ten times over in a matter of a day, you'll need to create an affiliate friendly site. If the affiliate sends their valuable traffic to your site it will need to convert and not have leaks. The adsense ads are leaks ... you'll make $$ on them if the end user clicks them not the originating affiliate who sends them. That is a no no.

I also understand the toll call justification but when you decide to prominently display the number like you do then you'll have to take the bad and add it into overhead. Since you say most people don't even use it to order why not remove it completely? Buying games online isn't really rocket science - you know the game name, platform and if the price is right, BAM... it's a sale right? I see no need for the # at all.

Another item you'd want to add is a data feed of all the products you have I'd suggest you set that up ASAP.

Have you decided on the affiliate tracking platform / software?

I second the datafeed. I could use a good datafeed video game merchant.

If the telephone number is for customer service then why does it tell you to call to order..... that sounds like a 'call to action' to me. If you tell people to call to order at least a few will.

If Adsense doesn't make any revenue in no way, shape, or form then why is it there?
Obviously it does make money. Maybe only a dollar or two a month, but it must make something or you would have removed it.

Haiko, isn't there a big thread all about merchant website leaks?

Minor minor leaks like Adsense, etc can't be ignored, placeholder or otherwise.

I found this thread after using the ABW search function to look specifically for a good video game program. Today I'm your target audience and, job done, I found your thread and clicked through to your website. Unfortunately, I saw the Adsense ads and decided not to join.

I may check the site again next time I'm looking for a video game program, but for now you've lost an affiliate before they even linked. Even those minor leaks matter.

Best of luck!
