When I woke up this morning, this was what the world outside my window looked like:

That's what I love Winters for (tho' isn't it still Fall on my calendar?) -- the fairy tale scenes right outside my window!!

Great photo, Geno. :applause:

I should be able to get a couple with a similar theme (we live across the street from a large park) - but hopefully not for another month or two yet. :D

Thanks, B.

We're going to a house in the woods (further north) tomorrow. Maybe I'll shoot a few more. I would especially like to post a couple with my little Princess in her winter clothes in the snow... :)

Brrrr! It makes the tree branches look beautiful, but oh so COLD!

*Hurriedly but fervently imagines scenes of Hawaii*

There, that's better.

Brrrr! It makes the tree branches look beautiful, but oh so COLD!It only looks cold. It's only 28°F here now. That's nothing...

The very first time I came to St. Petersburg (back in 1997), they had -26°F here. Not that was cold-d-d-d-d. :shivering

That picture may also look cold because the little park in it is so deserted... That was so only because it was morning. Now there are kids playing in that snow, building castles out of it and throwing snowballs at each other. Fun!! :cheerful:

Nice photo!

No snow here yet, but they say it may fall today...

Very pretty! The first winter snow is always a treat. The ONLY thing I like about winter is snow. You can keep the rest of it (cold, dry, dark).

The coldest weather I ever experienced was -15F but that was with a wind child of -50F. I didn't leave the house that week except to bring firewood in from the front porch. The dogs didn't want to go outside either! Poor hubby had to go to work though.

You live such an enchanted life, Geno.... Or perhaps you simply choose to see the enchanted when many of us seem to overlook it.

Thank you for sharing your enchanted moments with everyone here. :0) I think it really helps us all focus a bit more clearly when we are buried in day to day work :)

Beautiful picture ;)

Beautiful picture but I'm glad I'm not there. Snow is fun to look at but a dread to be in. At least in my opinion.

Glad everyone liked the picture. Snow is fun, PWA. It really is... Cold isn't. But then again: what is cold? There is a huge difference between the pleasant (to me, and my little Princess) 21-28°F and the freezing to death skin-biting -26 degrees.

You live such an enchanted life, Geno.... I do. Thank you, Anne. I also do believe it's a matter of choice. I know many people that wouldn't interpret what happened in St. Petersburg this morning exactly as a "fairy tale". But hey..... It's much more fun when you choose to live a happy and optimistic life, taking the right lessons from the wrong experiences, and so on and so forth... Every day happens only once. It's our choice how to live it. [End of sermon, as Billy Kay would say]

Have a wonderful snowy or snowless weekend, everyone!

Very nice pic Geno! The last time I saw snow like that was when I lived in Japan (ex was in the Air Force, and we got stationed there).

Living in the south, you don't get to see much snow at all. We're lucky if it snows at all, and when it does, it usually doesn't stick.

Thank you Geno. That is exactly the way I like my snow. On a postcard picture. It's beautiful!

That's great Geno. I'm a great big kid when it comes to winter prettiness and playing in the snow.

No snow in England yet, but there was a wonderful frost this morning across all of the fields under a clear blue sky and brilliant sunshine, no pics though I'm afraid.

OMG - that picture is just gorgeous!

meanwhile, we've been living in 90 degree heat in Los Angeles for days and running the air conditioner. Waking up to a snow covered park would be a challenge but sounds like a good switch about now.

But then again: what is cold?Anything cold enough to preserve food in is too cold!

Refrigerator's top temp = 40F

Snow's nice to look at in pictures, but it really can't exist unless it's TOO cold.
Personally I think "pleasant" is the kind of weather that marigolds (Tagetes sp.) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tagetes) would enjoy.

But to each his own...

We're going to a house in the woods (further north)...We did go, and this was what the road looked like most of the way:

That's got nothing on what MI will do in a couple of months...when does it get SERIOUS?

Although it does make me nostalgic for when we had lots of 1-lane dirt roads (but I'd prefer to be on them in the summer). Idiots went and paved everything around here :( Now to see something like that means a drive of about 45 mins, and even that area's got development less than a mile away! *Grumbles a LOT*

Make sure to go out at night, too, and look up. That looks like prime stargazing area!

...when does it get SERIOUS?It depends on the weather, but usually around late December - beginning of January.

Make sure to go out at night, too, and look up. That looks like prime stargazing area!It is. You know what you're talking about!! :approval: We had shish kebab Russian style this past Saturday night, and the sky was so clear -- it truly looked like a fairy tale...

Hey Geno,

These are gorgeous pictures! I used to play ice-hockey on the old canal as a kid. Those were incredible times.

Thanks for that. ; P
