I'm looking for an affiliate manager for a new affiliate program that I've started up. Here are some requirements:

- At least a few years of experience in affiliate marketing
- Basic HTML skills (the more the better)
- Good English (both writing and speaking)

If you're interested in this please contact me at reubenahokas@hotmail.com

Can you provide more information about this:

1. Are you willing to let the person work abroad?

2. Are you willing to outsource to an OPM?

3. What is the salary range?

4. Can you tell us about the company and product?

5. If you require the person to work onsite, where is the office?

6. Will you pay relocation fees?

These answers will help you get a better response and help the potential candidates on this forum understand if it is a good opportunity to move forward on or if it is not right for them.

Thanks.

* What product/service (give us at least the vertical)?

* What payment model (PPS, PPL, PPC, etc)?

* Would you consider outsourcing the management of the program?

Thanks for the replies.

1. Are you willing to let the person work abroad? Yes, no relocation is required.

2. Are you willing to outsource to an OPM?

3. What is the salary range? I'm going to be paying 100% of the profits from the product sales to the manager.

4. Can you tell us about the company and product? Basically it's my own affiliate program that I've created that I'm going to put all my products that I make on. The program isn't targetting any specific niche.

* What payment model (PPS, PPL, PPC, etc)? It's PPS

* Would you consider outsourcing the management of the program? That's what I'm looking for. I want someone to manage the recruiting / training of affiliates / updating the affiliate center etc.

Percentage only, that will be a challenge. Good luck with that :)

Generally, no affiliate manager with any amount of experience will work on a percentage only model as they know that it takes time to build an affiliate program up to the point where it is functioning well and is profitable.

Yeah I can see why an affiliate manager wouldn't want to work on a percentage model. The problem is I don't have that much to invest in my business right now, so that would work out the best for me.

What if they're on, say, a minimum of a 6 month contract? That is a good amount of time to reap the results of their work, and there's no reason why I wouldn't want them to continue building upon my affiliate program after that.

What you can also hire an OPM as a consultant, to set up the program for you and then let you run it on your own. That's another thing to consider.

How do you make a profit if the affiliate manager gets 100% of the profits?

Any clue you can provide as to the product type (clothes, clocks, machine)?

I'm using the affiliate program as a hub for all my products, but I just have one product up there right now, which is a fishing course.

I'm not looking to make an instant profit. I'm looking to make a profit off a list of fisherman that will be built up from sales etc.

I already have the basic affiliate program set up and the affiliate center.

The 2 major things I need the affiliate manager to do is the recruiting of new affiliates and providing them support.

It is in written format. It is just on general fishing, not targeted to any specific kind, though I'm sure I'm going to get products about fly fishing, bass fishing etc. eventually.

Yes more products will be added as time goes. They won't all be targeted towards fishing though.

It isn't in a .pdf, the course is hosted on my site.

Most likely, though I haven't decided what I'll be doing yet, I'm just working on promoting this fishing course for starters, and in the fishing niche.

My advice is to try to sell some on your own first, or do the affilaite program yourself (or consult with opm) then you'll have the money to hire someone decent.
If you just pay commission on a new program, chances are you'll get a newbie who you spend more time training than if you did it yourself, and they might not even work out, so you've wasted valuable time.

Yeah, that does seem like the best option from most people that I've talked to. Would anyone have any advice on recruiting affiliates?

You could try contacting some fishing enthusiast sites, and maybe they'd be interested?
Just think what the audience you wrote the guide for, and do some searches for similar sites and ask around.

Or there is advertising you can do on this site.. I don't know how it works, but i'm sure someone else can explain that to you too.

The point trying to be made was that you need to first try and build your business, then grow the affiliate program later. Affiliates want to promote sites with proven products that they know convert. They aren't excited about putting links up to new merchants until they are sure the merchant is stable.

You have a difficult product to sell, it is very niche. You need to seek out sites that offer instructional links and that are about fishing.

I know that a lot of merchants hope that an affiliate program will be the only sales channel they need, but in reality you need to work on more than one sales channel. SEO, SEM, building a base and then growing your affiliate program.

The questions I would ask are:

What is your existing revenue from the site.
What is the site conversion.
What marketing are you presently doing, budget?
What is the total margin you are willing to give to an affiliate manager to market from which the commissions will be paid.

If you can answer these shoot me an email at chamrick @ affiliatecrew.com
