i put 500, as a general number it can be higher or lower.

I think for a solution to work, we have to eliminate any relation to the sale of an item. So I suggest using last years stats to get an estimate on what 50 500 1000 clicks should pay. Maybe merchants should pay per a teired program the more clicks the more you get.

Salient point, Brian. Finding gray areas, loopholes, workarounds, or whatever quick solution may be perfectly legal, but I'm guessing that few merchants will be comfortable doing anything that may put them under scrutiny.

Affiliate marketers have been marked. Paying them in ANY way will be uncomfortable.

Getting legal counsel who can identify what is legal and take it to the state for an opinion (or ruling) is the best way to get merchants comfortable with a quick workaround solution. If the State says, "OK, if you pay affiliates like this, that's different," then you're getting somewhere.

Of course that turns the quick solution into not-so-quick. But perhaps still faster than the amazon/overstock wheels of justice, and IMO worth pursuing.

Mellie, where's that donate button?

I out a donate button on 72kilowatts for now. Long term, I'd rather direct people to NYAffiliatevoice....

But in the meantime.

If anyone would like to design a donate button, since I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, please feel free

I just used the donate button, found through Mellie's sig line link. I dropped $250 via PayPal just now. Thanks for making it an easy process for me to provide a little help.

I added a quick donate button in left column. Writing a blog post now, announcing it.
