n00b alert. Well, sorta.

Good evening.

It's hard to call myself a n00b since I've been working in the internet marketing space for more than a decade. But, I have to say, it makes me smile to see the word 'newbie' next to my name here on aBestWeb.

I've been dabbling with affiliate marketing off and on for years. I have some sites that make a few bucks here and there, but being a full time affiliate isn't something I aspire to. I'm more of an "under the hood" guy. Especially in the area of WordPress. I write WordPress plugins and widgets (some for clients, others available for the public), I tweak WordPress themes, I help people get WordPress to do what they want it to do. I've been a presenter at multiple WordCamp events talking about WordPress development and teaching people how to use WordPress as a CMS.

I'm an avid blogger, an amateur photographer, a social media nut, a proud parent of two teens and the husband to an awesome woman who has put up with me for more than 20 years.

I'm here to learn what I can and help those who may need some WordPress assistance along the way.

depending on your layover schedule on the dates in October, I'll call that a maybe. But, ASW10 is a definite! Even if I don't attend, I'm sure I can make my way in to at least one of the many after parties.

lol, guess I should have clarified. Flying into Vegas, staying overnight with my daughter and driving to LA, then driving back Sunday to fly out Monday night. I lived in Vegas for a couple years, left there last summer.

Hi John, i'm with everyone else - great resume! I didn't realize wordcamp vegas was going on during blogworldexpo. I know they had one last january backed up to Affiliate Summit. I'm arriving Wednesday -- any chance to get in on anything? I'll have to go do some hunting on their schedule. Hey John... found info on blogworldexpo/wordcamp. are there extra courses going on during blogworld or are some of the classes on the blogworld agenda actually part of wordcamp? It sounds like they are doing a booth/space on the exhibit floor. Are they doing classes right there? any details would be appreciated. I have one blog I've had a nightmare with the header - so looking forward to the Genius Bar .

hey there Bonnie. At BlogWorld, in the exhibit hall, there will be a stage set up with roughly 200 seats where WordCamp will take place. WordCamp has it's own full schedule. You can find the WordCamp schedule at lasvegaswordamp . com (agenda page).

If you are attending BlogWorld, even if you have purchased an 'exhibit hall only' pass, that will still get you in to WordCamp. Also, as you mentioned, the Genius Bar will be set up in a booth where we'll have a rotating cast of WordPress power users who are ready to answer any questions you have about your blog.

If you are going to be in town on Wednesday, you may want to try and join us for 'Beer n Blog' on Thursday evening. The info about it is on Facebook and you can RSVP:

Writerguy, I couldn't agree more. WordPress is awesome. I've personally been using WordPress since virtually the beginning. The power that it provides users is incredible. Oh, and that whole "free" aspect, yeah, that's cool, too.

It's actually "WordCamp" (not World). It's a conference centering around the blogging/CMS software called WordPress (wordpress.org). You can get more information about the WordCamp that will be in Phx next month at phxwordcamp.com
