Hello there... ;) From a broke gal with less than US$110
Hi from somewhere across the world... South-east Asia. I registered here because it seemed like this site/forum might help me. This is because I'm new to trying e-commerce and affiliate marketing seemed like the best choice for someone who's fairly inexperienced and who has problems that'd conspire to keep her from offering anything with constant and reliable customer/technical support.
And also because as I spent the last 3 days reading link upon link, I got terribly confused and frustrated because I've less than US$110 to my name and didn't have that much to spend on those high-end packages from say... Nitro Marketing and so forth.
Therefore, I'm confident that this site will benefit me by a lot.
Thanks and hope to see ya all around.

Welcome --- first - don't buy ANY ebook / programs ... You can get most of the knowledge needed from the folks here ...
I would recommend you look for a localized selling niche and gather information on it - frankly, the major market is still in the USA and we don't know anything about the rest of the world (our loss!!!) - Others will tell you about low cost methods to start getting your message out but my guess is that for $9.00/year you can get a domain name of your own choice (pick .COM rather than others) and $5.00/month or less unlimited shared hosting
Good Luck - Charles

Thanks for the advice...
Actually, I have many health issues issues(disrupted sleep cycle, skin that tears/bleeds after spending some hours in places with too much aircon/heat, etc.) which is why I can't find a job, atm. Treating most of them would cost by the thousands. *sighs* Seeing normal doctors haven't really helped, I'd probably need specialised care and all that stuff. I'm not being spoilt or fussy, just tired very tired with my body.
Yes, I'd probably just get a domain and webspace. And set up a blog.
micheck: Ahh but I wanted to try doing online business 'cos in my country, the market is very tough and difficult and only recommended for people who've got 10 to 20 years of experience in other countries. In fact, many people here are very tight with their money and it is extremely difficult to persuade them to go for different brands or products.
Though maybe after 10 to 20 years, I can try doing business in my country.
Thanks! That information was helpful.

I'm sorry I did not make myself better understood - what I was suggesting is that you can find a niche in SE Asia (even if the retailer you are an affiliate for is located here -- say OverStock, World Traveler or Zappos) -- and use this niche to affiliate sell online to the world -- things that are common in your world may be very exciting and new in my world --- say off the top of my head - food and spice items - decorator items - travel items - different types of shoes --- your inside knowledge will allow you to offer fresh comments in your blog and attract people to purchase through your affiliate links -- not everything in the merchants datafeed but starting with the items you know or can research and blog about.

The great thing about the internet is that you can sell to people who live in a part of the world with a much stronger economy like the USA. The bad thing is that most merchants only ship there and Canada so when things go well, it can be frustrating to try to monetize a site for the local market.
In any case, there's no need to spend money on courses or e-books for being an affiliate since all the same information is available for free.

@michek: Hmmmm... I guess I'll look into that. Though, my country is extremely westernised and I know only a little about my own culture or about cultures in SE Asia.
@lostdeviant: monetize? Errr... local market? Yes, you are right that many merchants only ship to the US and that it costs a bomb to arrange for shipping into Asia: either direct or indirect(third party consolidation services). And that it's not always too reliable.
Yes, you were all absolutely right about not paying for this information. I was about to plunk down US$40++ or more for some handbook when I discovered the "Thirty Day Challenge" through another post. :P Best of all: it's free and the content is posted in multi-formats and I can do this at my own pace(important since I'm hours ahead of America).
