newbie trying to develop my first website

I am trying to develop my first website that would function like gifts.com.
I own a website that is similar but with a more defined name. Can anyone help with the best way to develop this site with little programming experience.
Do I hire a web designer?
Go the Wordpress route?
Buy a template and try to do it myself?
I have spent days looking on the web trying to figure out my first move and I am stumped.
Can anyone point me in the right direction at this forum or somewhere else?

Best bet is to figure out what YOUR site is supposed to do (not what you want to plagarize from other sites) - -what features should it have? - are you going to use datafeeds to add products to the site? - do you have the skills to build a site yourself? do you have the money to outsource it? - do you have the time to get it up by your selfimposed deadline?

wordpress is good. lots of plugins for datafeeds? spend some time searching around here and you'll find more tips to help.
