Default NOV 09: NEW BANNERS, NEW COUPONS for Vanns.com

Hey Vanns.com Affiliates,

I will begin posting new banners and coupons in SAS this week. Here's the drill down:

Banners
- some will replace existing banners and automatically refresh on your site(s).
- some will be totally new (sonos 5, cameras, home theater, flat panel TV, free shipping)
- BE PREPARED - some of the old banners will expire in about month. I will post an exact date with regular reminders about this date and which ones, specifically in another thread.
- Another set of new banners will arrive in early-Dec for "Accessories," "Clearance Center" and "Holiday Gift Guide"

Coupons
- TONS of text for Black Friday / Cyber Monday
- Will be posted through SAS coupon tool by me
- Will ALSO be included in the SAS Black Friday coupon set by SAS
- If I do say so myself, these coupons are really, really good

That's it for now... hope you're all well and having fun gearing up for the big weeks to come. Our numbers are up over Oct 09 and we are reaching comps from Nov 08... fingers crossed... keep up the good work.

Feedback welcome... haven't heard from any of you in a while... how's this newbie doing so far?

Molly

This is good news for me anyway. I just downloaded the deals database yesterday and was a little ticked to find that none of the Vann's deals posted there were actually any kind of deal, just selling points. I can't present everyday selling points under "specials and deals." I'll check and see what's new. Thanks!

Hi Net4Biz,

thanks for the note. I do not see that listed anywhere in my coupon codes, so not sure where you got that info. Perhaps I've mistyped something into SAS, however I just scoured my deals and emails.

Can you let me know where you got that link... I apologize if I seem dim right now, but I do want to figure this out for you.

Thanks much
Molly

I think he meant to say that he couldn't find a link to that product in your datafeed.

Molly,

The page for the product shows up off your site, but I want the code for the image that usually comes with the code listings.

Normally there is product picture with price, commission, details and code. I searched thru the 2481 product links and it seems to not be listed. The product is the
10.1" widescreen 160GB Asus Eee PC black netbook.

The product is listed on the computer pages.

Thanks.

Net4Biz,

I think I understand now what it is you're looking for...Please correct me here if I'm wrong:

You're searching for the product you mentioned in SAS's site under "Get Specific Product Linking Code" and not seeing the product there. Correct?

We are not actually datafeeding that product out at all so you won't find it there. We'll work with our IT team tomorrow to get that product listed in the feed we send to SAS.

Sorry for the confusion on our end.

Couldn't you just use the "Create a Custom Link to a Page" option at SAS? I find that easier than digging through datafeeds when I just want a single product.

Molly,

Here's how to set up a page that sells. EBAY has a custom widget thing you can use as an example. You pick a size, and keyword for the product or service and then they populate it with a series of pictures and offers of the various products. If you use a 600x280 widget you get something like 5 or 6 links to various offers for that product or service. There is a search box at the top, so people can type in specifically what they want if the know it.

Why it's a good thing, is that I can put the widget in the center of the page with content at the top and bottom and put an outlink after the bottom content. It all fits in one screen. No scrolliing needed. A text ad in PPC or your description of the page for the SEO presells the product and the click.

When people would get to the page with the widget, they have the search option to type in the exact product or they can click on the three or six options.

I try to send them to a BUY IT NOW checkout page. I don't want them looking around, they might forget to buy it.

What I have is niche directory pages, single product pages or pages where I offer 4 products ... I don't need or want 2400 products, since no one is going to buy ALL of them or even some of them.

If I buy PPC, then I am targetting brands, keywords and such. I can send them direct if I have a link to that specific product or I can send them to a pre-sell page for that specific product.

I check what is selling on Amazon, and that is what I am going to promote. People buy what every one else is buying. That's the way it works whether some guru says so or not. I am not interested in selling ONE obscure item a year.

The LG & Samseung HDTV are hot ... Phillips brand is warm ... the rest suck on price.

Samseung and ASUS Netbooks are super hot ... no one I know would ever think of buying a Sony. First because of price, second because they are junk.

Now datafeeds work, but not if you are spending a bunch on PPC for one reason, PROFIT. Sure people buy off datafeeds, but you make more profit selling the best item for the best price with the best service if that is where they go from the PPC link.

Most people hate having to make more than about 4 or 5 choices. So I tend to have one product and then give them the option to go look at more, if that product is not
exactly what they want.

I have three people waiting to buy that ASUS notebook, but I can't find a link to the just that item. Ditto the LG 37 inch HDTV.

The NO SALES tax thing saves money and free shipping is a selling point. So Vann's should be a hot place to go get electronic stuff ... but it's not. And for one reason.
No one there knows how to sell. They just copy the other electronic places.

And since margins are slim, I am not going to play musical products when it cost me $.50 per click in PPC to send people to your site.

If you want to sell a bunch of stuff ... here's how to do it ... go to Amazon. Check out top sellers for the various niches ... sell those products for the same price or less. Put the top four products or let affiliates pick, in one page where each product goes direct to check out. It's just a simple template. Put in a search box so people can search Vann's. On this page tell people they save because there is NO sales tax and they get FREE SHIPPING. Put in a couple of testamonials about the customer service.

And for sure, say buying from Vann's is better than buying from Amazon or EBAY because your total price is less and service is better. At the bottom of the page, put a link to the Vann's home page.

One other thing you can do to explode sales is create a sales page for specific products. Kind of like the morons on Clickbank do ... One sales page for one product.
What are the benefits to the customer, what are the features of the product, why should they buy it from you and a link to go buy it with a carrot if they do it right now.

Amazon is eating the lunch of almost all merchants online ... but you guys can eat their lunch if you stop trying to be a store and focus on selling products. You really can't lose because there is NO SALES TAX in Montana.

Vann's

I just need an affiliate code ... so I can sell the ASUS netbook. The sooner the better.
How hard is that to post?

net4biz,

Thanks for your comments. The easiest way for you to get a link with your tracking code in it right now is to use the "Create a Custom Link to a Page" feature in Shareasale as was suggested MichaelColey (Thanks Michael!).

It will generate a code that links to whatever page you want with your tracking code embedded in it.

It's super fast and easy.

Thank you,
