Default GoodBulbs SOLD!

I have just sold GoodBulbs.com.

Yeah I know. No warning?!

Well, I didn't expect it to go so fast! But it did. I just put it up on the 21st and now it's someone else's, assuming the deal goes to completion. The money's already sitting in my PayPal so I have no reason to believe it'll unsell.

I don't know if the buyer intends to keep the program going, or much of anything about him other than that he's in Holland! So...if you've got any GB links up, you may want to rip 'em.

As for why I sold it, I have other merchant sites where the stock never dies, as well as several new affiliate-side sites. I'm also going to be looking more into the site-sale business! So I figured now was a good time to do it.

This forum (GoodBulbs forum, not ABW) will likely be closed, since it was not part of the deal.

Thanks to all who put my links up. Of course, I will check to make sure all the commissions are paid before I hand over the "keys."

On another note, I tried to send all current affiliates an email about this today, but it seems that the mailserver isn't sending them out. Don't be surprised if you either get 3 emails, or none at all.

Since I haven't been able to confirm that the emails actually went anywhere, I went ahead and made this thread.

Congrats. How did you sell it? Put it up for sale at some site (which one if so) or did they contact you first?

I put it on Flippa.com. I think maybe I should have charged more (after all, they say about houses that if it sells fast, it was too cheap), but I'm not complaining.

Although the guy's in Holland, so that means I "get to" keep the bulbs.

Alright cool. Rexanne was asking about selling a site few days ago - http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=126407

and Flippa was mentioned as well. And I might want to sell something in the future, so something I'm paying attention to.

Congrats! I saw a site for sale on flippa today via twitter. I might put a site or two up myself. Some great domains that I don't have time to develop any longer.

Well at least you got one of 'em. I don't remember which one went out then...

I had to change the regular outgoing email address because it got overrun with spam. I was having trouble finding the New Order emails! So if you had it set up to pick a folder based on address, that's what's up.

Update: The buyer has indicated that he would like to keep the affiliate program going!

However, he chose not to buy the remaining bulbs, so there will likely be new varieties for sale (and new links to put up!) once he gets everything set back up.

@all - Thanks!

Congrats on the sale. That seemed dirt cheap. (No pun intended.) At least you can put your effort into your other projects now.

Well, since the program still is in suspended animation, is there a way to stop the double Daily report, emails?

Sorry I missed this; haven't been checking my ABW notifications too often now.

The site along with the program software and its coding are now in the hands of the new owner, so I don't have access to any of it anymore. I can't make any changes/payments/fixes etc.

You could set up a filter on your email to redirect 'em to the dumper. But since the emails are still going out, the program is likely still accessible, so you could change your info in there if you want to. Get a Hotmail address or something and send 'em to that.

I hate to say it, but it's probably a good idea to rip links at this point. Even though the buyer said he was interested in keeping the affiliate program going, he did not seem to be very "ready." Plus, he's in the Netherlands, so PayPal will probably be his only option. IF he realizes it when an affiliate sale comes in at all!

*Just checked*

He's got it back to "Online Showcase" status. That means he's not accepting orders. (n00b!)

Rip the links and redirect those emails to where-ever. Looks like it could be a long while before he's ready

Default goodbulbs.com - what a steal

Wow! Maybe I'm naive, but that looks like a solid site sold for quite a discount.

I would expect the domain and rank would be worth more, but I hope Leader is happy and pursuing other rewarding, profitable ventures.

Anybody using any other bulb affiliate programs? Leader's thread has gotten me curious ...
