Affiliate Summit Social Media - Hotel Info?
Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels near Baruch College Vertical Campus Conference Center?
I'm planning to travel by train and coming back the same day would cause me to miss the ShareASale party, so any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Hotel Giraffe (365 Park Avenue South at 26th Street) is close to the venue, but a bit pricey.
Here is the address for the Baruch College Vertical Campus Conference Center: One Bernard Baruch Way (55 Lexington at 24th St), New York, NY 10010

Anyone else already booked? I'm on the fence about going and it will probably come down to the hotel since I would be traveling by myself.

I'm leaning towards the Comfort Inn near the Empire State Building so I can be within walking distance of Baruch College, a Broadway show and SMX East at Javitz (plus they have free wifi and breakfast)

I'm thinking about going also and was going to take the train with a stop on the way in poukeepsie and stay at my sisters a night before and after but the airfare is probably cheaper than the train and only an hour long compared to 4+ hours on the train.
KIMarketing, is that the Comfort Inn Chelsea? The prices are out of my range if it's that Comfort Inn but I'm sure most of them that are close by will be right around the same price I'm kind of in the thinking mode of Kim from 4checks about tying to catch everything including the SAS party plus I haven't been to the city since I was a kid so it would be nice to check out a few things while I'm finally there.
I'm thinking of flying in early Sunday to JFK and leaving sometime Monday. There are a couple of hotels right near the airport that are a bit cheaper but I'm not sure how far they are from the Social Media event????
That said, I'm not having much luck with getting directions and the distance from mapquest from JFK to where the Evnt is taking place by putting in the address that Shawn listed but I am sure I am doing something wrong

It's been a loooong time since I stayed in a hotel in NYC but I cannot believe the room rates! For $300/night I expect a foot rub and a bedtime story, but I don't think that's gonna happen.
Wow!

You think that's bad... I'm going to adtech NY in November and their "negotiated" rate with the Hilton NY where the show is taking place is $460.00 per night! Oh, and the topper -- wifi is not included.
What a joke.

I ended up at the Westin. I'm bringing our Search/Viral Manager with me and she is staying for SMX, so it made sense to share a room for one night since I'm coming home on the 6th.
I can't wait to see everyone!

Okay, deep breath. It is, after all, tax-deductible and I work awfully hard. I deserve a treat now and again.
So I'm looking online at hotels and I can't figure out if Baruch is "downtown" or "midtown." I have figured out that it's on the East Side. Aintcha proud of me?

Pardon my insult, Packy!
But, save time and money, and don't be a , and take the !
I don't remember the exact date, but a while ago there was the news on TV, of a couple that at the last minute decided to take the train to go somewhere, because something happened to an airplane the day before. And guess what?
That train had some kind of accident, and they were one of the one's that bought that ticket to the other side.
Just look at the bright side, when the times comes, it's better to get there in less than one hour, than get stuck on the tracks for over four hours.

Mr. Sal, that is a good way to look at things To be honest with you was kind of looking forward to flying to NYC if possible. I don't think I would/will have a problem flying for just over an hour. Plus your right if If I do/don't survive the plane ride it will sure beat the 4 - 5 hour train ride to get one place or another
That said it's starting to look a lot cheaper taking the train though and staying at my sisters and brother-in-laws in Poughkeepsie Unfortunately if I do that though I'll miss the stuff going on after the Media Summit Thanks for that angle Mr. Sal
Missy, WOW to a negotiated price of $460 a night!
Kim, I loved the Westin in Boston. Your going to be sleeping on one of the most comfortable beds that I have slept on in my life.

It's in midtown - Lexington and 25th St. Pretty close to Madison Square Park, if you know where that is.
There is a subway stop at Park and 28th, and I think Park and 23rd, too.

Thanks, Shawn. I want to stay at a hotel where others are staying (for safety reasons). Any suggestions?
I'm a country girl and cities make me -- err -- jumpy.

Not sure where most people are staying - Missy posted a list above of suggestions, though.
We are staying at the Hotel Giraffe.

Looks like I'm at the Giraffe too. Cool name for a hotel.
If you want $100 off the Ny summit registration just ping me privately. I have exclusive discount for you. Don't book without it.

Jim's discount of $100 is a better offer than the 20% off.
Jim haven't you learned yet about posting here, you know what happens every time you do.

I'll Ask. I have a lot .of friends in the direct area
I'll get a list of hotels that are reasonable. I know a lot of people in the vicinity. In fact, i was in Chelsea today. I just got back to Baltimore about an hour ago. Look forward to meeting you all and speaking with you!

They charge that much so that the Hilton family can give Paris a bigger weekly allowance, if she stays out of troube.
