Hello, I am happy to announce that the Laptops For Less datafeed at CJ is up and running! 1000+ products!
If you've already read through the CJ datafeed FAQs and wish to have full access to our 1000 product feed, then send a support request to CJ noting your preferred file format and asking them to setup or update your feed to include Laptops For Less.
Thanks for your hard work in the Laptops For Less Affiliate program and have a great day!

Now that our 1000+ product datafeed is up and running, you may be considering using the CJ datafeed feature on your site for the first time ever, or for the first time in a long time.
For those of you who have questions about using our datafeed or the any datafeed on the CJ network, I've pasted answers to FAQs below. If you need additional help with the feed, ask a question through CJ support and let CJ know that you'd like to setup a feed to include Laptops For Less.
CJ DATAFEED FAQs
What is a product catalog?
A product catalog is a group of product links that share the same ad ID. They are tracked and performance data is reported for the product catalog as a whole, although it may contain more than just one product link. In most cases an advertiser will have just one product catalog containing all their links.
How does the new (Jan 2003) system affect my current reports?
Reports will retain the same column header format, however the "category" field will no longer contain a Commission Junction-specific category identifier. Commission Junction now passes the category if provided by the advertiser directly to the publisher through the "category" field.
Can I get more than one feed?
Yes, multiple feeds are available. Each feed can be for all of your advertisers or just a group of advertisers you have selected that have product data available.
What other formats are available?
Commission Junction now provides a Commission Junction-specific XML format and multiple delimited formats including PIPE, CSV, and TAB.
Can feeds be customized?
Yes, product feeds can be customized. It is possible to specify which fields and in what sequence you would like the fields to display within delimited formats. Customization is not possible with XML formats.
How do I set up or customize a feed?
Simply contact client services by selecting "Ask a Question" from the "Support" menu in your Account Manager. Once in the question interface, select the "Linking" category and the "Product Links" subcategory.
Is there a cost associated with the product feeds?
Yes, the cost for setting up the feed is currently $250. If you are earning over $10,000 dollars in commissions per month this fee may be waived at CJ's discretion.
How do I access product feeds?
Product feeds can either be pushed to your FTP server on a scheduled basis, or you can pull the data from our HTTP server or an FTP server account we create for you. Feeds through these methods will be updated on a scheduled basis based on your preferences.
Best Regards,
Paul Hagopian

At least that's what they told me. Even if you're not at that level, it never hurts to ask.

How about adding some sort of categorical field to your feed? Over 1600 products and no way to organize them in a logical matter without scrubbing the data (hours of extra unecessary work if categories were added to your feed.) Just a suggestion
Thanks!

I agree with DFL, if you had a logical way of categorizing the products, I'd be signed up and working on your program immediately.

wow akiva, sure saves alot of time by making them by yourself manually.
2. for those people like me who don't know how to setup a product feed this looks like a good option to still display the items in a user friendly environment.
P.S. maybe you should make a feed program too ;-) that would auto do it somehow. You'd get alot of sales ;-)

MichaelColey, thank you for the clarification. It is $10,000 in sales. And yes, it never hurts to contact CJ and ask them about the datafeed for your site. Let them tell you what they are willing to do instead of assuming they won't budge from their $10K sales requirement. You may also be able to negotiate the fee in some cases.

jackson992,
We are working on setting up a datafeed outside of CJ, however it is not ready yet. I will let everyone know when it is (probably by or before mid April). CJ allows you to set one up before 10,000, but there is a small fee (the fee covers as many CJ advertisers as you want I'm told). It's worth it if your site is pulling in a fair amount of traffic!

I don't consider $250 to be a *small* fee. I;ll be waiting for the free feed, I have plenty of feeds from other companies to keep me busy until yours is ready or you offer the PSC...
Some of us don't make thousands of dollars yet....

Thank you all for expressing your interest in the free external feed and for your suggestions on our existing CJ feed. Because of you, we already populated a category field in the CJ feed and will also be populating a category field in our free external feed. Thanks for the great ideas!
We've decided to have the free external feed ready sooner than later... probably by or before Valentine's day
To speed things up, I will need assistance from some of you for testing the external feed with your sites and the CJ program. When ready for testing, I'll be contacting some of you for assistance.
When complete and tested, the external feed will be made free and available for all CJ Publishers in the Laptops For Less Affiliate Program.
Thank you all again for your comments and suggestions regarding the feeds.
