After researching the issue of auto cookie setting in detail and discussing my findings with the Marketing Director, we've decided that it is not in the best interest of the majority of our affiliates if we allow and/or encourage the use of "onload" popups, 1x1 iframes, cookie-setting image source references, or any technology which automatically sets/resets the user's CJ cookies without the user fully knowing and complying ahead of time.
Any Laptops For Less Affiliates found to be utilizing such a method on any page of their site which promotes our products will be thoroughly checked out and given a chance to remove the feature before being marked for deactivation.
I hope one day in the future all affiliates will be on a somewhat level playing field, one where we do not rely on unreliable cookies.
I have closed this topic to replies in the interest of everyone here at ABW. There are enough ABW threads already related to this topic. We don't need to start another here!
Best Regards,
Paul
